What do you guys use on the natural grain wood trim?
For cleaning?
For conditioning?
I have the natural grain grey oak and was curious since this is my first MB without the lacquered wood trim.

No. It's natural grain grey oak trim on the console and doors..Every W205 has wood except for the AMG ones with carbon.
Any non-ammonia/non-oily cleaner - spray on a microfiber towel - and use the damp towel to wipe clean.
1. Cheapest - Sprayway Non-Ammonia Glass Cleaner (cheapest generic glass cleaner available about anywhere) - I do not trust it on LCD screens though
2. Any LCD Screen Cleaner - which is Non-Ammonia/Non-Alcohol - safe for anything - but when you clean a LCD screen make sure you have a "soft" microfiber towel and/or that the towel is clean... easy to pick up scratches otherwise

I'm asking about the wood. Not the plastic or LCD.Originally Posted by fabbrisd1

I answered you about the Wood Trim... it has a nano-finish.. you don't use Pledge.. you don't use Armorall.. etc.. you use a Non-Ammonia or Non-Ammonia/Non-Alcohol Cleaner.. dampen the cloth with the cleaner and wipe clean... EZ Peazey

The wood trim has a heavy coating of polyurethane "varnish" that needs no special treatment. No conditioning; that's for oil finishes on some furniture.Originally Posted by irondad

This. It's not that complicated. The grey ash is an actual paint on a thin wood veneer, not a stain. Can use any mild cleaner. Heck, you could use a wet cloth and clean it. Originally Posted by fabbrisd1

BMW cockpit care is excellent - made for use on open pore wood, and all plastic or brushed metal surfaces. Better than the Mercedes branded product.
Interesting. Three different answers as to the wood finish: nano finish, polyurethane varnish, and paint. Logically, two (or all) of you are wrong.

Actually - they're all right. it's an ultra-thin layer of tinted lacquer over a natural wood veneer.

Also, logically your question doesn't make sense.

What difference does it make. Just use a mild cleaner. It's not that delicate, it's just a wood veneer.

Unlike plastic or laquer, wood is a natural product. Improperly treated wood can darken or dry out or suffer other consequences and I want to make sure I avoid that. Originally Posted by places

Well here's what the Owners Manual says:
Quote:
Cleaning genuine wood and trim elements
! Do not use solvent-based cleaning agents such as tar remover, wheel cleaners, polishes or waxes. There is otherwise a risk of damaging the surface.
! Do not use chrome polish on trim pieces. The trim pieces have a chrome look but are mostly made of anodized aluminum and can lose their shine if chrome polish is used. Use a damp, lint-free cloth instead when cleaning the trim pieces.
If the chrome-plated trim pieces are very dirty, you can use a chrome polish. If you are unsure as to whether the trim pieces are chrome-plated or not, consult an authorized Mercedes-Benz Center.

- Wipe the wooden trim and trim pieces with a damp, lint-free cloth, e.g. a microfiber cloth.
- Trim elements with piano black finish: clean with a soft, damp cloth and a commercially available soap solution.
- Heavy soiling: use care and cleaning products recommended and approved by Mercedes-Benz.

Perfect. Thank you. I couldn't find that in my owner's manual. Originally Posted by diamondsilver16

Someone already told you that all answers are the same. Hence all answers were correct. People were trying to help you, logically you should thank them instead of dictating whose right and whose wrong. Your thread does not make sense.Originally Posted by irondad
