Looking for info about the C300L

There is a nice low mileage C300L for sale, but I am not familiar with the “L” variant nor can I find much info on the web. The only thing I can find is a reference to an extended version sold in Asia, but this car doesn’t appear to be any different than other C300’s I’ve looked at. It’s VIN doesn’t show anything out of the ordinary and it was built in Alabama. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

There is a long-wheelbase version for China but I thought that was made in China, not the US.

https://www.motor1.com/news/240353/m...ss-l-facelift/

"Like the Mercedes A-Class L Sedan, the C-Class L is only sold in China. It is manufactured under the Beijing Benz Automotive joint venture of Daimler and BAIC Motor."

Yes that looks like the same information I found. It’s just that this C300 doesn’t appear to be any different than the other ones I’ve looked at. Attaching photos.

mr Nelson stuck an "L" on there to increase marketability.

the L looks like it doesnt line up with the "C300".

Lol, I don’t think mr Nelson did, but I was thinking maybe the first owner may have done just that.

It's coming up as a US-spec C300, so Mr. Nelson or the first owner probably added the "L" because it's not a C300L.

Mr Nelson refers to the name of the dealership currently selling the car. “Nelson” appears above the trunk badge in the photo.

I did find if you google A2058174300 it’s the part number for the C300L trunk badge, although it doesn’t proved any additional information about the car itself...

Aftermarket badging. There's no extra room in the back, you can tell because the back door is longer on the 300L's.

Is this less offensive than a fake AMG badge? 😆

No more MB:(
Terrible placement for a dealer badge. That along with the bogus "L" would mean a hard pass for me. I don't care if these could be removed.

I know this issue is probably long since closed out but I wanted to share what information I gathered in my personal journey. I too found a C300L for sale and ran across this post a number of times in my own journey to identify the “L”. In the end, the L is an identifier for the upgraded “Luxury” trim option. There are a few really nice visual differences; Inside, the dash is wrapped in leather with a nice contrasting stitch and the sound system is a notch above standard. There are a couple of other small cosmetic differences but I can’t recall them all. Outside, the hood features a raised Mercedes emblem, a definite nod to the S class and other Luxury models. The alloy wheels are also the multi-spoke style in a gunmetal color. If you build a C300 online and add the luxury package you could see what else it has to offerer differently than the standard C300.

In the end I purchased the car and I love it. It’s a unique Mercedes without an outrageous price tag.

This post definitely departs from reality a bit.

The luxury package was a trim level available from 2015 to 2017 (so you can no longer build a C300 with this option) that offered:
  • Leather dashboard accents/stitching
  • Waterfall grill with active louvers (AirPanel)
  • Standing hood ornament
  • 20 spoke "LA" wheels
  • Low profile front air dam
  • Rear valance exhaust delete
  • Additional chrome trim along sides

The luxury package did not include upgraded entertainment system (separate package) and were not badged as "C300L". They were badged as 'C300' just like the rest.

Any C300 from this year range with an "L" emblem has had that badge added aftermarket.
