If im not mistaken it, this is its OEM number: A2057800022
Googled and looked up for the pricings.
Pretty insane for a piece of glass, but im guessing it should be easy to install on your own since its only glued.

It's not glass it's plastic. Some one else had the same issue, I believe they got it wrapped.

That is a notorious piece of plastic known for flying off some cars at highway speeds.
Since it's a safety hazard MB should fix it for free, but that's just my opinion.

Same issue with my car. Took mine to dealer and asked him that it should be covered under warranty and its a design flaw. He told me that he can waive the labor and pay for the part. I told him to give my car back, I'll get it wrapped.

FYI its not clear coat, it is laminated.

I noticed lots of micro-scratches on my front roof panel so I wrapped it for protection. I did the back part of the roof also because of bird poop. Cosmetic fix in my opinion, this is nothing major compared to like a mechanical failure:

A competent paint shop can spray/clear - in place - after minor sand down - for under $100

I will to MB and they sent me to MB Collision and they tell me that they can't paint this part because it is plastic but they would have to take it off and put a new one on. They called MB and they said this is only covered for the first 40KM so there warrant is done. The cost to replace it with a new one is $250 in work and the part is $1400.

I have a '17 C300 with ~21,000 miles on it, and the roof panel looks pretty bad. Definitely gets noticed and not in a good way.

It appears to be a durability issue.

I also have the CPO, but was advised it would not be covered. So for now it stays, as an unfortunate reminder to those who see it of poor durability of this part.

Hey yall,

I had the exact same issue. Took it to MB Dealership here in Dallas and luckily they covered it under warranty. Mind you that I bought the ELW so they covered it using that. Mine is a 2016 with roughly 33k miles on it. They took the car and informed me couple days later that they covered it using the warranty. So if you also have a EWL, they should be able to cover it using that.

Side note, that plastic piece is an absolute PAIN to remove. The Tech actually chipped my Front Windshield trying to remove that plastic panel. MB also replaced my entire front windshield because of that chip.

Dude, this is awesome. Consider yourself fortunate. Sounds like you have a very fair dealership there!

Same exact issue with mine. Hell I didn't even notice it when I bought it (bought it at night) I thought it must have been sitting outside from the previous owner before I bought it. Definitely sad after only 5 years this piece is trashed while the rest of the car looks and feels brand new still. My question is did you have to remove this panel to wrap it or do you leave it in place and just sand it down with it still installed? I like the carbon fiber look.

Sand it down? Why? Just wrap it where it sits.

I have the exact same problem! My black c300 coupe 2016 model. Roof strip looks terrible. Took it to Mercedes Benz dealer in Sydney, Australia - Mercedes Alexandria and would you believe they quoted me parts and labor AU $6,200!!!! How is that even possible compared to prices quoted in other responses here, even factoring currency conversion etc. They say that the Sun roof rails or something need to be replaced too if replacing that roof panel, I don’t get it…seems so excessive. I’m curious as I notice you stated “Au $20” so assume you are in Australia also, did you get a quote from dealer to replace at all? And if so how much?

Take it to a good body shop and have it painted properly and be done with it.

Report The Panel To www.nhtsa.gov
Hello everyone, I own a 2017 C-300 Coupe with 57k miles on it. I called Mercedes corporate to report this today and they said to report the problem to: www.nhtsa.gov

Apparently if there are enough reports they create a recall on it.

I stated it was vibrating loose and clear coat is completely peeling.

You're probably better off removing, prepping and painting that yourself instead of waiting for a recall that will never come. Took them forever to recognize the subframe issue on the 204, and even that wasn't a recall but an extended warranty.
