Thinking of adding some aftermarket door sills.

I have 2 options hardwired or battery power.

what I am wandering is with the hard wired ones could I splice from the footwell lights? Without running into any issues? As it would be nice just to have them powered rather then changing batteries every so often.

How it didnt answer your question. The youtube video clearly shows how he connected the sills to the door puddle light. Why dont you do the same. You need them to turn on when you open the door and you need them off when you close the door. What is the point in connecting them to the footwell light. They will be on all the items once you turn on the car. This will kill your battery.

I would have foot the footwell light would operate in the same would it not? And access to it would surely be easier than going to the puddle light?
Dont get me wrong if that’s what I have to do and that’s the best way I will. I’m completely new to all this so definitely appreciate all the help

The problem is that the footwell light goes on once the car turns on. Hence your door sills will be always on as long as the car is on. It might be easier but it will eat battery power. Otherwise the germans would have designed it your way. The best way is that the door sills go on when you open the door and turn off once you close the door.

sorry for such a late reply! I watched the video again and his car it a bit different to mine.
but back to the footwell lights, my footwell lights operate in the same way, I unlock the car they come on, I open the door they come on, I shut the door they go off?? I just want to know if it’s safe to splice from them? As I’ve heard that the car can detect more voltage etc. Please remember I am completely new to doing any sort of mod to any car

Hi. My car is different then yours as my footwell lights stay on as long as the car is on as shown in the first picture. I am frankly not an electrician so i cant tell you if its safe or not. You might just need to try and let us know what happens so other can benefit from your experience. By the way where did you buy these illuminated sills from. Why dont you ask the seller where to connect them. How about the door projectors did you change them. I changed mine to Mercedes logo as seen in the second and third pictures. I think they look cooler then the factory light. These are basically remove and install.
