If you’re in a garage, the headlights will come on. Hence the taillights. Otherwise no headlights, hence no taillights.

huh? I am not in a garage, yes it is under warranty but was just asking, it is never in a garage, outside in front of my house, when I remote start it, day or night, the headlights are always on once the car is started to let you know it has started but only sometimes do the tail lights come on which is weird
does it follow what the sensor sees on day vs night? im used to all previous remote starts just turning the lights on to indicate the car started regardless of auto light setting

Don’t know. Sometimes when I’m driving, I will notice my headlights on. Even during the day. I wouldn’t worry about it too much.

I would imagine it has to do with what the sensor thinks.
I would try this once somewhere pitch black dark, try it a couple of times and see what happens. IMO, both head and taillights should come on.
Then, try during the day when the sun is out and it is not overcast. I would imagine only the headlights would come on as based on the daylight running lamp sensor.
If it acts up and does not do the identical thing each and every time, I would have it checked, especially if under warranty.
I am sorry, but I do not believe in “not worrying too much about it”. This is a Benz, and all should work as designed!

You are of course entitled to worry about whatever you want. The fact that it is a MB is irrelevant. Any car should work as designed. However, from the Haptic Touch button, to the wrist pin issues, to the convertible top, there are issues. Some are pretty major. As long as the remote start works, I would not be worried about whether the taillights come on when remote starting. As long as they work when driving.
If you see a nail in your tire, don’t worry about fixing it as long as the tire holds air. 🤦♂️ 😂
