I have a 2016 Mercedes C300 with the AMG sport package. Recently its been giving me the “SOS Inoperable” message every time i start the car. Ive taken it on a road trip, did the light switch trick and even disconnected the battery for a few hours to no avail. Anyone encounter this? Thank you!

it sounds to me that the 3g service your car uses for emergency has switched to 4G, which your car can’t use. Or your paid subscription has expired.

i looked into that possibility but we havent had any changes in our area recently. That being said, the sos isn’t subscription based it standard on the newish cars as confirmed by the mercedes technician. Im at a bit of a cross roads. It popped out of nowhere and its not really deter mental just annoying to have to clear the message
I get the same annoying message on my '18 C300. Somewhere between the screen replacement and adding the DSP it started popping up. I never got it taken care of while it was under extended warranty, so I just clear it with a "copy" of Xentry I set up.
I'm not sure how it operates on W205 as my early model never did have it but is there a chance it has a small battery backup that might need replacing?
So i will be taking it to the dealership tomorrow. Will keep you all updated.
Were you able to resolve this issue? If so, how? My GLC 300 is having the exact same issue. The mechanic told me that my battery's weak and replaced the battery but the issue is not resolved.
@MELMASSRY did you ever get a resolution for your SOS Inoperative message on your instrument cluster after bringing it to the dealership? Have this issue that popped up before leaving for vacation and has been on now for 3 weeks. Seeing if there was ever a solution as I tried calling MBrace support and they say it needs to go to the dealer and work with them to resolve the error. My Brace service is active up til July 29 so I already know that is not the issue.
Hey all, i took it in and the service tech told me it needed a new sos computer. I asked for the reasoning the old one failed and he couldn’t identify any. I told him to clear the error code and see if it returns. He pushed back but then i insisted. The code never came back. I recommend you all do the same to verify if the part is actually defective.
