P0299 Fixed!

They only change the whole turbo because its faster than the whole engine... LOL for a $50 part!

I believe I have the same issue. But I cannot find any videos online on how to replace the westgate? Are you able to send me a link to any videos or tutorials that you found on how to replace the westgate? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
This forum is absolutely a tool!
Got this DTC P0299(21) on my car, after noticing loss of power under accelartion. Felt like limp mode, but No Check engine light. (At highway)
Plugged in the OBD reader and got this code.
next: google it, found this forum and went to my mechanic.
At first we checked with a manually pressure pump, and yet he said the Waste gate was fine. (I was not convinced)
We then plugged in Autel OBD reader, and open/closed the waste gate actuator through the machine and notice the flap did not hold back as it should when it was «on».
It had a small release when it should have held the flap closed for the vacum.
Going to Mercedes tomorrow and ask if they can order the Waste gate acutator. Heard that they dont sell it without the Turbo…
If not then Ebay will be the solution, and hopefully it will go back to normal after the change!🤞
BTW! Could someone break down the issue why this happens? And how the actuator works (not sure what i wrote is correct) please educate me
And the possibilty of other parts that i may need to change if this not work…? 🤓
Found what @JettaRed wrote in another thread:
‘’ By default, the wastegate actuator is normally held closed by a spring. The boost pressure line opens the wastegate when there is excessive boost. However, if the actuator spring has weakned, the wastegate may open sooner, resulting in an underboost condition’’
(Dont know how to tag another user)😅
