What is felt protruding from headlights?

Tonight while wiping down my 2019 C 300 I noticed something protruding from the trailing edge of both headlights. Thinking it was road debris, I pulled at one of these items and with some resistance it pulled out. It was then I noticed that it is a strip of thick felt colored black (others are red). It would appear to part of the headlight assembly.

What is this and do I need to have it serviced? Thanks.

That's possible, I'd visited one earlier in the day.

Are you saying this felt was part of the car wash brush apparatus?

yes from the spinning things with little felt looking string thingies
and they come in all sorts of colors and sizes and as they age the felt gets smaller and tattered and come free fro machine

That's got to be it! I'm surprised those brushes move with enough force to drive a thick piece of felt between the plastic headlight assembly and the body. I'll try to stop back there and see if the color matches. Thanks.

Exactly, that sharp point just above the headlight is where the rotating felt strips get caught and ripped off. Thanks for the help!

OP thanks for posting the images yes, those are definitely from the car wash the other forum member mentioned, I notice those right away a few years back when I specifically tell my dealership to not wash the car yet they go through a brush wash at a local gas station before returning to me.
