That does seem to be a mule body. If not the design looks evolutionary (which wouldn't be a bad thing IMO...!)

that big screen inside is for the S class. don't think the C will get this.
for sure it will be horrible if they put this in a 100k car...

The spy shots make it look like it has protruding tail lights. Is that just me?

My guess is that those 'protruding' lamps are an add-on to keep the true design hidden & still have working lights.
