Just wanted to say THANK YOU for consistently posting these updated ordering guides! I'm in the US & have been patiently waiting to order the 2022, hopefully it won't be much longer but the shortages & delays worry me. After waiting so long, I'd hate to not be able to order it with all the bells & whistles.

01/20/2022As you are aware, MBUSA is experiencing challenges with the availability of semiconductor components due to the worldwide shortage. This has caused the addition and/or removal of certain options on vehicles. A summary of the changes is below:

Inductive Wireless Charging (897) is subject to limited availability for the remainder of MY22.

Hi Eaton,

I have a question about the optionals availability and the semiconductors shortages:

When I placed my order I was aware that the burmester 3d sound was not going to be installed in my car, the mercedes dealership was not able to select it on the netstar system.

Because they pushed back my order, my dealership suggested me to put my name on another w206 that was already produced, so I could have my car delivered faster then my original order.

Now, when I check this new car on mb.vin and also on the netstar system, those optional seems to be installed in the car (810-871-897).

Does this mean that this specific car has all the optional? Or is just a visualization error?

Thanks!

Have the dealer send you the MSRP/build sheet PDF. That should be considered the source of truth. If the option is listed there and there are no credit codes, the option is indeed installed.
If the option shows in NetStar though, then I think it's pretty much guaranteed to be there.

Miraculously found a vehicle built on 11/23 heading to my dealer with DA6 Sound Package, 897 Inductive Wireless Charing, and 894 Enhanced Ambient Lighting. Nabbed it. I'm foregoing a custom order to get these deal-breaker items, instead. It'll be a Polar White on Power Red Leather C300W4 with AMG line.

If you have something on order, I would highly recommend you check what your dealer was allocated before the shortages started impacting US builds.

End of February, I suggest you to contact your dealership now, they already know which cars are they going to get.

Also, if you wait and they get a car you like, most probably someone else already put a downpayment for it.

Waiting in this market could not be the best option.

Good Luck!

Thanks Eaton!

Anyone know the difference between "DA6 - Sound Package" and "810 - Burmester 3D Surround Sounds System"?
If I check my car configuration in mb.vin I am not able to find the "DA6 - Sound Package" but I do find "810 - Burmester 3D Surround Sounds System" - "22U - Music Streaming" - "32U - Sound Personalization"

Anyone can explain the difference?
Thank You

DA6 is the package code that bundles 810, 22U, and 32U together. If you do not have DA6, but have all of the components, no big deal. Similarly, if you have DA6, but not all of its components, no big deal. As I understand it, the package codes are unique to the North American market.

Hey Eaton, It seems like the bermerster sound system will be in limited availability for the rest of 2022. If I order a c class with an executive package will my order just be delayed if there aren't any more bermerster components or will my car just arrive without it. Thanks

I'm not sure. I think it could go either way.

I See. Well I hope there's enough availability for the rest of the year then. Heard some people getting theirs with bermerster by mid summer.

I've nabbed a late November build that, per the build sheet, has Burmester. We'll see if it's a spec code generation issue, or if it was legitimately built with it. It looks legitimate, as there is a "missing option" code for the handsfree access (trunk kick) feature.

Point being: check every dealer spec bound for your dealer(s) as part of their launch allocation. They may have had a Burmester or two or three make their way through.

I checked my dealer last week and if seems like out of the three cars that have not been ordered yet one of them has Bermerster but it's doesn't have the other things I wanted. I'll definitely ask the other dealerships what they have as well. I don't want to go through the pain of upgrading to aftermarket speakers.

For sure...and arguably the biggest issue is the standard audio system (assuming we don't get the available German-market "enhanced" setup) only has (4) speakers, plus the FrontBass structural sub. So even if you're able to upgrade the speakers, there's only (4) of them you can touch.

Good luck!

Yeah ikr, I'm surprised they didn't allocate that many bermerster sound system for this new car especially when the w205 ones didn't sound that great. I'm keeping this car for at least 5-6 years so I don't want to be stuck with okayish speakers. Even if I order one today and get it by the end of the year I'm okay with that. I did have the same order earlier from August but regret not getting the exclusive package at the time. So basically two deposits.

I would skip The burmester and add a custom "plug and play" Audiotec Fischer DSP with tuning software or use a V12 MK2 DSP amp.

I would but it would cost a lot + voiding warranty. Even if the dealership did it for me the labor would be a lot.

Ah yes, the warranty. Forgot about that. Good Point.

Called my dealership yesterday and they told me that they will check for availability today. Fast-forward to today I called them and they said they will tell me tomorrow. Hopefully there are still enough parts allocated.

Quick question for you all. I have a build sheet, made a down payment and might be SOL. After reading this I went and looked and my sheet doesn't have DA6 and a few other things that are 'supposed' to be standard in the pinnacle trim. Does this mean they are not there and I just lost my non-refundable deposit? Ouch.

What this probably means is that the options are unavailable for your car despite ordering the upper level trim. DA6 Is bermerster I believe so that's one thing that I expect to be unavailable along with hands free access. Your order would either arrive without the missing features and you'll be refunded or they'll just keep delaying your order until parts are available. But I think you should ask your dealership about that. My dealer was unable to add bermerster to my order so it's not on the build sheet.

If those items are not on your build sheet, they are not on your vehicle, unfortunately.

I would work with your dealer and let them know how critical those components are to your purchase. I would imagine they'll let you move into a vehicle that has the items you're interested in. In this market they'll be able to find a home for a vehicle you walk away from.
