Something similar happened to me accompanied by a singular popping sound. It remedied itself without turning the car off but booted me from my user profile. Logged back in quick and everything came back to normal. I was on my way to the dealer anyway for minor trim fixes and told them about this. They diagnosed the problem and just decided to change the whole MBUX system without me requesting they do that. Claimed "We want it 100% when you get it back."

Hi Guys, I am a new here, had the same issue witch central screen few days ago with my C-180 (produced in South Africa in Oct 2021), apart from the above described errors, I noticed that engine speed was the same after 5-10 mins of working as in warming regime (specific sound and vibration). I drove out from underground garage 150 meters, parked it, locked, after 5 mins tried again (did not go far from the car), it helped. Called my dealership, they asked me to visit them and leave the car there for a couple of days. Do you have any feedback from your dealerships? What is their opinion and how did they fix it? Changing of the whole MBUX system is the only official solution?

Did you try forcing a reboot, I forgot how the procedure is done I think you hold the power button where the screen is, if not try restoring and resetting MBUX settings?

Just experienced the same issue with our screen. Was just under 2 hours into a return trip home on the highway, my wife hung up her Bluetooth connected phone after a very long call…looked down and noticed the screen doing this. It was still responsive to touch, but you couldn’t make anything out. Fortunately for me I had the NAV up on the HUD which saved us since we were at a junction and needed it to navigate me.

Pulled off at the nearest opportunity, restarted the car and the screen reset. 👍. Didn’t experience the issue again for the rest of the trip and didn’t experience it the day before during the total 3 hour trip either. So passing it off as a software glitch for now.

Does anyone know of any way to reset the screen or even the MBUX through any of the hard buttons on the console?

Probably this or hold the power button under the screen? Try this first and then try holding the power button if it doesn't work:
That screen glitch you shown us is caused by a glitch with Apple CarPlay I am sure you already know, an update should be out soon if not already.

Interesting...I didn't know about the Apple CarPlay glitch. We were not using CarPlay when it happened, actually prefer the MBUX over CarPlay so don't have it activated, but my wife had just terminated a Bluetooth connected IPhone phone call so it might be related. Hasn't happened again, so not too concerned.

You are welcome, I am surprised that an update wasn't released for this yet? It was first discovered mid last year I believe, perhaps your version of MBUX isn't the latest yet? When was the last oil change? If it is coming soon ask them to perform the software update for you.

Was the dealership able to diagnose and resolve this problem (center screen not on and all safety systems disabled)? If so, what was the solution? My car did this today - the second time since I've owned the car. First time it occurred was in Sept 2022. I haven't taken my car in yet for this problem, but since it's recurred today, guess I will need to do so soon. Just checked my car a few minutes ago - it's been two hours since the issue occurred today and the center screen still won't turn on. (For what it's worth, I checked my VIN to see if it was included in the SAM cover recall but it wasn't.) Thanks!

What version of MBUX 2.0 NTG 7.0 you have? You can view this information in system information or something along those lines.

Finally looked today - the system shows I have version RL_NTG7_E316.505-22092AC3. (2022 C300 RWD, USA)

Two more strange things happened with the system this past week. There was one day where each time I would start the car there would be two beeps and the message, "dynamic low beam off" would display briefly on the screen (speedometer). The last time the vehicle did this that day I noticed the message had changed to "dynamic low beam on" and the it stopped doing this further after every start of the ending. I hadn't modified or changed any of the vehicle settings so not sure why that happened.

This morning I started the car and the center screen seemed to be working fine, about 30 seconds later I tried to change the audio source/ radio station and there was a loud "pop" sound. The center screen went dark, then immediately rebooted. After that it seemed to be functioning okay.

I scheduled an appointment to take the vehicle to the dealership next week. Hoping they can resolve it quickly and my car won't be there for days.

They way you described it, with the pop and reboot, it just sounds like the usual soft reset you can do when holding the power button for about 5 seconds. Maybe you were pressing it by accident?

I took my car to the dealership last Saturday for the MBUX issues I've been having. Just got the car back today. The service advisor told me they updated the software - service invoice specifically mentions an update to the driver's assistance system (campaign # 2023040017). I was just looking at the MBUX "Info" screen and the software version remains unchanged from when I looked at it back on 6/5/2023! Strange. Now I have little faith that the problems I've been having have been resolved. Just emailed the service advisor and asked about this. I'm curious to see what his response is.

I noticed that all of my "favorite" radio stations and navigation destinations were gone. Also, on the drive home I noticed the Active Lane Change feature wasn't working. I checked the settings to see if, perhaps, the feature had been disabled, but it wasn't. It was still active. Maybe this feature isn't available while the system recalibrates for a bit? Not sure. Anyone else experience this after a software update? I'll need to ask the service advisor about this as well.

Just saw your response from a few weeks ago. Sorry. No, I wasn't pressing the power button,I recall specifically trying to change the audio source from Spotify on CarPlay to Sirius. Thanks for the suggestion tho.

Sounds like a software bug so should be easy fix if the software fix is available.

Thinking of custom ordering a C300 2023

i was planning on custom ordering a C300 4matic sedan but this thread has made me nervous. Is this problem still very relevant or has MB finally ironed out the kinks? I don't want to take the car to the dealer so many times! Very nervous as to what to do. Has anyone had any issues in recent models?

A software update was done in December on my C300 and I have not had a single reboot/black screen since.

They also fixed some of the bugs with CarPlay not connecting at startup, as I haven’t had that issue since.

Not going to lie, the early months with the car were rough (from June 2022) but I would not personally worry about it now.

I did have a failed headlight under warranty a few months ago but they were fast and replaced the entire fixture within a day.

I'm new on this forum, unfortunately experiencing the same problem, for the first time today. Looking forward to the next morning .
The car is in my possession just for a few weeks and I don't know if the previous owner had the same problem. Anyway, I was just curios if your experienced the same issue after you went to the service and if you could you let me know if the software version changed (what is the new no.?) or its the same version as before.
