48v issue problem
#26
All vehicles with 48V systems are strong “do not buy” in my view.
GLE
GLS
S-Class
E-/CLS-Class
and now C-Class
MB are incompetent when it comes to launching new technology. This is not a supplier or global health scare problem. This is a bellyflop by MB that has lasted three years across several models.
Do not buy any MB with a 48V system.

I have a C300 on order and was not aware of issues with 48V mild hybrid. The reviews I've read are positive based on the smooth stop/start transition and low end performance boost (even if it is a small boost).

Can you elaborate on the issues that have been reported over the last 3 years?

Majority of issues so far have been on MY19-MY21 models, although looks like maybe a few early built 22's could have been impacted as per this post. Other than this thread I haven't seen '22's being posted for failure and they have been out some time at least in regards to GLE/GLS/S.

There should be three menus on the top part of the screen: Consumption Vehicle Engine
Navigate to the "Vehicle" menu.
The "Engine" data screen is where you see the torque, the power, boost pressure, engine oil temperature and transmission temperature.

There you go again making wild claims that you have no actual documentation for. Your behavior is shameful and you shouldn't be an MB World ambassador because of it.

Wrong, I have plenty of documentation, I see it almost daily, I've been working on Mercedes-Benz vehicles for 20 years, and have seen the disastrous quality control problems of the last 3 years firsthand. Your accusations and conduct here are shameful, unfounded, and uncalled for and lack any basis in fact. You appear unable to tolerate the opinions of others, many of whom have more exposure to these vehicles. Tell us, what are your qualifications to assess the reliability or problems of the overall Mercedes brand? You're nothing more than an end user who's experience encompasses ONE and only ONE vehicle at any given moment.

I'm in the same situation and wasn't aware of the problem until after I took delivery of my c300. I hope the problem doesn't affect us but it is unnerving to see it affect OP. I also check my build date just to see how long it was sitting and fortunately it was built in April.

For the 12V starter battery voltage, at least in the previous systems like COMAND and MBUX Gen 1 (IIRC), it is accessible via the "Engine Data" screen, maybe they did remove it on MBUX Gen 2 then. In that case, might have to enter the workshop menu to view it in real time.

I surely would not have given Fletcher Jones a check for $150,000 in November of 2021 if I'd been aware of the problem! The 48 volt battery failed in my 2021 AMG GLE 63S, and now, a few weeks later, it is back at the dealership with a 48 volt battery problem. What silly fool decided to throw-away "engineered like no other car" and replace it with "just another heap?"

Sorry to hear of the difficulties with a new AMG.

It's my turn. Just drove it for 100+ miles yesterday without incident. The 48V message popped up without warning after sitting in my garage overnight and won't start in my garage today. How do I get them to take it back as "lemon" with only 2k on the odometer?

Lemon laws vary from state to state, but multiple failures are typically required, not just one. Good luck! I've not had any more problems since the second 48V battery replacement, and drove my 2021 AMG GLE63S 265 miles today with no problems.

Do us a favor and post the production date of your car, it's printed on the corner of the door jamb VIN sticker. xx/xx format.

Sheesh, coming in as an owner of the W205, it is scary seeing all the electrical issues with the W206 so far. Like Chassis said, I would avoid all these 48V hybrid systems for now and re-consider a late model year. Or just lease it.
Can you imagine all the issues with the e-Turbo system that's coming in on the C43 and C63?

FYI, Chassis is clueless and keeps recycling the same old, tired anti-MB rhetoric. The 48V hybrid system in the W206 is the same hybrid system that's been in the MB Formula 1 cars for a number of years now. This is the same configuration that Lewis Hamilton has won 7 FIA world championships with. The Formula 1 cars are a developmental engineering test bed whose technology eventually makes its way to the road going cars. My engineer father always taught me to never buy the first year of a new model as there are always unforeseen glitched that need to be worked out.
Don’t fall for the marketing. F1 has no relation at all to mass market appliances MB builds.

You know you point out that Chassis often mentions that his opinion of modern MB isn't very high. You'd be correct. Just re-read your responses in this very thread. Lewis Hamilton, hybrid in F1 first, blah blah over and over. Pot calling..something something black. You can't seem to help mentioning your engineer father in any section of this forum where someone is critical of MB. It's tiresome to read a thread irrespective of who's on repeat so perhaps don't perpetuate it.
