OH NO : ( not on the new C-Class as well. MB, what are you doing how is it that it is still not resolved since the issue came out in early 2020 or late 2019

I am so sorry to hear about this OP, I hope the dealership takes care of you and get it fixed in no time.

Yep, following in the footsteps of the one-sixty-lemon (167) the 206 is having problems with 48v systems and check engine lights. Check the production date on the door jamb vin sticker, many of these have been sitting for as long as 7 months which can't be good for the battery. On another note, it's been mentioned here before, never buy a first model year of any vehicle.

That is a very good point can't believe I didn't think of that. I believe so and I heard from forum members who are owners that a few were built in October, November on the picture thread or was it the US only thread.

That being said, OP's C 200 isn't available in the USA and therefore I am not sure if OP already had the vehicle for a couple of months now. OP, I guess you are the only one that can answer that question for us, do you mind please?

Man sorry to hear about the car having problems already

Also something you don't want to read when you're picking up the c300 today. I hope it's an isolated problem.

OP, let us know when you get more info.

What's the best way to fully charge the battery after taking delivery to bring it "back to shape" fast?

Drive it more but for long distances preferably for hours just make sure the cooling and all are good don't do short drives because that can cause strain to the battery. Charging the 12V battery will allow the voltage converter to charge the 48V battery.

Is Eco mode best for charging the battery?

I would think letting a car/battery sitting still for 7 months would definitely give you a dead battery. Even if it is not totally dead, the battery would have suffered enough internal damage (due to severe discharging) that no matter how much service/prep work be done before delivery, it will just die sooner than later.
The only way is to replace the battery by the dealer before delivery to the customer.
But there is warranty and so the customer is still good. He just has to deal with the hassle of visiting the dealer.

Hmmm I would think in theory sport mode helps charge it faster as the engine revs higher in idle making the alternator work harder to charge the 12V and then the 12V uses the voltage converter to charge the 48V but it doesn't sound like it is true in reality because the alternator should be capped at certain workload regardless of the mode. Well if that is the case I don't think the mode matters. The way to test this is to bring up "workshop menu" basically the menu that you confirm service has been completed and monitor the amps and voltage there I don't know if the older methods shared on the forums works with the W206 but you can try (however, I don't know if it shows the 48V battery, try anyways) Alternatively, you could just use the "Engine Data" screen in the infotainment where it will show the battery voltage, take note of the resting voltage and then the voltage once the vehicle has started (however this only shows the 12V battery voltage and not 48V battery) other than that you could measure the 48V battery yourself (I don't recommend) or somehow get Xentry to read out the information.

All vehicles with 48V systems are strong “do not buy” in my view.

GLE
GLS
S-Class
E-/CLS-Class
and now C-Class

MB are incompetent when it comes to launching new technology. This is not a supplier or global health scare problem. This is a bellyflop by MB that has lasted three years across several models.

Do not buy any MB with a 48V system.

Is it possible to monitor battery charge level in the driver or central display?

not the 48V battery, no. you can only see the 12V starter battery level but not really the level, just the voltage.

Sounds ;like you're not aware that the 48 volt hybrid system that's now in the road going MBs that you think is so terrible has been used in the Formula 1 cars for a number of years with Lewis Hamilton winning the championship with this same configuration multiple times. Cars that sit for 7 months without being driven or hooked up to a battery charger will have electrical issues.

How do you get the 12V starter battery voltage readout in MBUX? Thanks.

Thats great information. Are you saying a buyer of an MB with Formula 1 systems needs a Formula 1 team to keep the car running? That’s what it looks like. You have brought Formula 1 into a consumer mass market vehicle discussion. What is your point?

Sounds like you had no idea that the hybrid system now in MB's road going cars comes from the proven hybrid system that's used on the Formula 1 cars. You really shouldn't post such an attack when you don't know all of the basic facts. Given your constant negative attacks on MB, I don't think you should be an MB World ambassador. Your clearly not an MB enthusiast.

Under the "Engine Data" screen in the infotainment. That said, not sure if MBUX 2.0 (NTG 7.0, myMBUX) changed the wording, which you have.

No attack, the point is that Formula 1 has no relation at all to the mass market garbage MB puts out. Now that you have informed the thread about Formula 1, please explain its relevance to a mass market garbage system that is MB’s 48V junk?

Please get an education by reading the 167 and 213 sections of this site.

GLE 450
Currently sitting in a parking lot waiting for a tow truck for this very same issue. I drive the GLE 450, less than a year old. This is the second time this has happened. First time was about 3 months after purchase. The first time it happened, i was unable to start the car. Dealership claimed they could not replicate the problem and that it was likely just a software update error.
This time I was actually driving and the car essentially cut off and advised me to stop the engine immediately. Then I got a warning that the coolant was too hot.

There you go again spewing your uninformed, anti MB garbage again. Your own words make it obvious that you have no idea that the current 48 volt hybrid system in MB's road going cars comes from the hybrid system used in MB's Formula 1 race cars and that has resulted in 7 world championships for both Lewis Hamilton and MB. Your nasty, uninformed attacks on MB clearly indicate to me that you have no business being an MB World ambassador.

Then it's also resulted in thousands of customers left stranded and broken down in their brand new Mercedes-Benz. I bet those owners don't feel like World Champions.

Please explain in 25 words or less the relevance of Formula 1 to the mass market garbage 48V system MB has fumbled the ball on for the past three years.
