Found this online today - appears there's a recent recall that might address this issue. On the nhtsa.gov website, look for campaign #22V678000, "Short Circuit from Moisture Accumulation in Trunk." Copied some of the information below. Just passing this on.

Maybe or maybe the one in the W206 is more prone to this type of damage hence the recall?
Thanks for posting this.

More info on the recall: https://www.autoevolution.com/news/2...on-198834.html
Mine will be delivered in Nov and it is a 2023 model. The above article says that production post June 2022 has the fix already implemented. Lucky me

I won’t get the SAM issue but I wont get Burmester either…

do you have confirmation of the burmester missing from your build?
so far I have only the first printout from the dealership listing all the options I checked (included burmaster), nothing else.
Also do you have any pricing for the 2023 model?

I don’t have the 2023 price but it should be very similar to 2022. These days the additional markup that dealers put is more important than how the MSRP changes.

M-B determined that when the trunk lid is wet, opening the lid may cause water to drip into the trunk. Although that’s not a problem on most other vehicles, water in the trunk of the C-Class may reach the SAM
Since the tint is installed from the inside, how does this mess up the SAM....and not car washes?

Have you gotten the car tinted ?
I just got mine delivered in Sept 2022.
I don't see the recall against my vehicles VIN. Wondering if this issue is fully fixed now for me to proceed with the tinting

A trunk lid does not get wet when installing tint, only rain and car washes

Not to get off topic, but had to comment…
I hope you only listen to talk radio… the speakers are the worst without the Burmester upgrade. I’ve replaced them all and it sounds good enough, but the standard speakers are paper and sound awful.

I also think they don't want to admit that they should had installed those covers in the first place when the previous models were susceptible and they were aware of it, it is a design flaw that took them this long to actually care about.

MBWorld Fanatic!
I would suggest you check on this with your local MB dealership before you do any window tinting. I wouldn't assume because your VIN # isn't on the list that you're in the clear.

I'd like to bump this thread for some reassurance to myself. I will be buying a 2023 C43 soon. Does this tinting issue still exist? I prefer not to tint at the dealer, but if I have to then I will
I am located in the US.
Thanks!

Anyone get the front done? Any issues?

I had the front done on my previous car but after replacing the windshield twice for rock chips and cracks, I decided it was too much money and hassle to get it redone. Consider that if you do a lot of highway driving.
My 2023 has the hud, I don’t even know if it’s possible to tint the windshield.
