Burmester and delivery date - C 2023
The attached image has my build, which was created a few weeks ago.
Please can you help me with a couple of questions?
- This is a pinnacle build and Burmester is a must for me. The build doesn't list the DA6 sound package though. After some messages with my salesman, he told me not to worry about Burmester and that it will definitely be in the car. He explained that DX2 overrides DA6 and that is why DA6 is not showing up. I am not entirely sure about his explanation. Do you agree with my salesman? He is very nice and helpful, but I want to triple-check everything with your help. I suspect DA6 might not be showing up because of the chip shortage and my best route is to ask the salesman to please keep trying to add DA6 to the build as often as possible before the car gets produced. (Feel free to comment if you think the Burmester sound is not that much different from the standard sound and I should let this headache go...).
- For those who own a C 2022 but did not get Burmester. Is the sound good? Have you had a chance to compare it to Burmester? If so, do you notice a big difference?
- I also noticed a couple of dates at the bottom of the build, including "10/1D/2022" as the production date. Does this mean that the car is scheduled to be finished in October and probably be delivered to me around end-Oct / early-Nov?

2. I currently have a non burmester 2022 c300 and it sounds alright. Not terrible but I did hear the burmester dealer one and it definitely sounded way better and louder while providing more bass.
3. That's the build date I think but I doubt it will be on time. Everything is still delayed by a couple months including my build.
What would you do in my situation? Am I just left without options? Do you know if Mercedes at the factory can/will proactively add Burmester in case a chip is available (given that they know I requested a Pinnacle)?

What you should do is contact your dealer again about it and show him the build sheet I linked above. The factory themselves can't add it at all and it will 100% not show up on the build. But if it's on the build sheet then you'll most likely get it but there's a small chance it might not even be on your car. The manufacturer doesn't really give a heads up about stuff missing on the car to the dealer and they get what they receive.

Starting to realize that there is nothing I can do but wait and get used to the idea... unless you or others have more options? And thanks to everyone for their help, by the way, you are awesome!

I just picked up my Pinnacle on Thursday—which I picked specifically because it was equipped with DA6. The sound system is fantastic, and a great improvement over my W205.
You need to search for vehicles that have already been built that have DA6 equipped. They built a batch of them with DA6 as part of launch. But you may have to work with another dealer, based on initial allocations.
Thanks for the feedback. I drive a 2019 E300 with burmester and the sound is very nice. However, I have tested the 2022 C300 without burmester and the sound quality is VERY similar to my E class, it only lacks a little bit of bass. Having said that, I have not tested the burmester in the 2022 C300, and I feel that maybe I should never test it so that I don’t get disappointed if my car doesn’t get it. If I don’t know how the new burmester sounds, then I don’t know what I am missing.

There are only 2 codes (that I know of) that will get you the Burmester 3d sound system. Either the DX1 Exclusive Trim or the 810 Burmester 3D Option.
without that, you will have a vehicle that has 2 tweeters by the front windows, 2 mids by the front doors, and 2 mids by the rear doors. That’s it. Technically 6 speakers but the front is split between a high and a mid so it’s technically 1 speaker split into 2, but they call it 6 total.
Note that the speakers DO have the bermester logo on them. My thought is the difference lies in the amount of speakers. The bermester 3d has 15 speakers! It has the 6 (plus 2 tweeters in the back to match the front), 2 on the read deck where a sunshade would go, a center channel, a sub behind the screen, and then what they call 3d speakers to help with the 3d effect I suppose. Also has a 710 watt external amp.
As for the basic “bermester” system that I got, any type of bass sounds like someone flicking a piece of paper. It is embarrassing that they actually put that in the vehicle. I legit put on sports talk radio whenever anyone gets in the car because music sounds so awful.
That said, once I pry the wiring guide out of the trunk I will be ATTEMPTING to install a 1200 watt amp and 12” sub. I’m not planning on bumping down the street, but the soundproofing is so good in that car that I need some extra power to get through it, and it can always get turned down. I’ll start a thread once that gets started next week.
long story short, if you listen to music that has bass, I’d say wait until they get the chips in. I’m disappointed that I kept the date and sacrificed the sound.

Is the sales associate at the dealer able to see if code DA6 is present on the build sheet before sending the order?
In that case I could instruct him to wait and try again a week/ two weeks later, making sure DA6 will be there.
also talked to someone that said the shortage is due to the 3d sound chip. It allows you to control the sound a lot better than a standard eq so it doesn’t sound like it’s coming from the speakers but all around you. Sounds great, worth the upgrade. Don’t get the basic system and make sure it says 3D
Were you able to get any discounts since you did not get what is supposed to be part of the pinnacle trim?
