Brake pedal issue?

Hello,

can you please share your experience with the brake pedal? I find it too soft most of the time.
My dealership inspected the car and said everything looks good but I don’t really trust him.

How is the feedback of your brake pedal?

Thank You

It's softer than on my previous car. I attribute it to regenerative braking. When you apply break pedal initially brake pads are not engaged. Electric motor plays generator role and slows car down by generating electrisity in process. At some point brake pads are engaged and brake pedal feels harder. I think it's normal.

inagree it is softer than on my 2020 C300 also. My rotors and brake pads were replaced at 99 miles and the brake pedal feels the same as before sand after they replaced them. I agree with this poster that it has a different feel for sure!!

The brake pads are probably "slightly?" worse than those in the W205 C 300 amg line. Before, on the W205 C 300 base and amg line has different brakes now it doesn't matter if you get amg line or not, brakes don't change. The amg line on the W205 in fact has C 43 brakes according to a forum member here after taking it apart and comparing.

Thanks everyone for your reply.
Serg675 it does make sense what you say, do you know if this is documented somewhere?
I would expect to retrieve those information from the services department of my dealership but yesterday I understood they are just not up to date yet/not willing to spend time to understand and explain those new car functions to the customers.

Thanks again!

I am not a fan of the new brakes at all. I feel the pedal is way too soft compared to my 2020. But my dealer said it’s normal. Weird. I was hoping when they had to change my rotors and brake pads at 99 miles it got better but it’s the same.

It is regenerative braking that is the cause for the softer pedal, all MHEV MB’s have this attribute. In addition they are marketing it as more luxury than sport which is also typically equated to a softer pedal with a longer travel.

Double action pedal

I've noticed that on a relative "soft" press of the brake pedal the regenerative indication fills up the bar "recharging" the system. As the breaking action increases on the pedal, the regeneration bar disappear and the car is slowed more decisively. Below a certain speed this function seems suppressed and you only get the regular breaking without the "recharging". That support the thesis that we feel some softness to allow this "double action" on the break pedal.
