Fully functional w206? Tell us about it!

Hello,

I am planning on joining the Mercedes-Benz family by purchasing a c300 (2023 pinnacle trim). However, I have been lurking around the forum (and heard about German reliability), and am concerned about the initial quality of these new high-tech German cars. Specially the first wave of W206 (tint problems? display problems? weird sounds in the tires? Not getting 3D Burmester system when it is supposed to be included? etc?).

In this thread, I wanted to focus on the good and get an idea of the people with their new W206 that have been driving it for at least a 1000 miles or so with ZERO issues.

So if anyone has good outcome stories to report, I would love to hear it .

Thank you!

It is commonly discouraged to get first model year vehicles but ... the tint problems has to do with water leaking in and destroying the SAM, there is a recall which the dealership will install a cover, the water leak will continue but it wouldn't make contact with the SAM, display problems are probably software which will eventually get solved, the Burmester seems to be deleted for many 2022 not all though, not sure if it still the case for 2023.

It is common that people come to the forums to report problems and not a lot of people come here to tell everyone their car is flawless although there are that does precisely this : ) , there might be many owners without issues that just don't come on the forums.

If you are okay with the potential issues being a first model year, it is not a bad car : ), 2023 you are considering as you know is second model year so it should help a little.

Nice! Do you know of anyone else with a flawless W206?

I am certainly not the type of of fan of any product/brand that would buy a new item with the expectation that it will break (within an unreasonable amount of time), so I got to keep doing more research of the failure rate of the 2022 and the 2023 W206s...
But you're right - people mostly come to these forums to complain, so my perception is skewed by the data available.
Do you have a new W206?

C300
Other than Mercedes Me app having some issues in connectivity, my car is perfectly fine. I owned 300D series, C230 TurboDiesel, CLS 55 AMG (my favorite!), C63 AMG, CLS 550 4matic, and now happy owner of 2022 C300. Every car had some good or bad, overall though a Mercedes is still a Mercedes and I would buy it over and over again.

I understand and I am glad we seen several reports here from owners that doesn't have issues.

Not yet, I do have friends with a W206 C 300 though, me personally debating on the W206 C 43 or even C 63 e performance, need to wait till driving reviews as well for the latter. I actually do like my W205 a lot still.

No more MB:(
Historically the longer you wait the better the chance of minimizing issues. Mercedes has usually been pretty good about addressing chronic issues (with the exception of the 167's) along production cycles. 2023 will certainly have fewer issues than 2022 models.

As for the 63, thats a huge roll of the dice. Tremendous amount of tech and much of it new. That's a lease only vehicle, I'd treat that as an iPhone

This place is a joke.
Never buy the first model year of any new vehicle. You'll be the beta tester.

C63 SE with 4 banger and hybrid will be interesting to see when owners start posting about them on this site.

4 banger has high specific output = lots of stress on the engine hard parts. MB has a poor track record of 4 banger reliability, now they up the ante on themselves with high specific output.

The hybrid will be a new electromechanical drive unit with new control electronics. Let's see the sparks fly on that.

If you are looking for a "flawless" car you will have a long wait I am afraid, and it definitely won't be a German high-performance car. A base Honda, Mazda, Toyota etc. without any premium high-tech options will be your best bet, although not flawless either. If you are familiar with technology you will know that every new server, software, laptop, router, phone that you unbox has issues / bugs that are eventually resolved by a subsequent firmware or software update. With the integration of tech and auto you will have a similar experience with cars, especially first gen.

Having said that, I have had mine for 2 months with no issues 🤞

Also reading these forums - and the problems - and just waiting for something to go wrong… but 6 months in and 4500km and nothing to report really. Screen went black once or twice but recovered. Mercedes Me App works fine.

Everything still feels well bolted together and this is a car with two small kids climbing everywhere and terrible quality roads. It can happen you get a good one!! Well I hope 😉
