Why is the infotainment screen tilted towards the driver?

Hi, from aesthetics point of view I don't understand why MB does it.

AMG SL, S class, EQS and the previous generation cars have the display totally straight, and I think they look nicer.

Do you like it tilted?

BMW has been doing it since the 70s. It’s more practical for the driver and I really like it

It's catered to the driver, not the passengers.

But AMG SL is extremely catered to the driver, why the screen is not tilted? They have the same design language... you can't tell me it's catered to the passenger?

I can't speak to the AMG SL; however, the S Class was released almost a year before the W206 which means they've had time to think about it. The EQS has a different design with a singular screen and they can't tilt that. They likely purposely kept the design of the SL close to the S class as it's a derivation of that class. This is evident in both the C43 and C63 having a tilted screen to match the C300.

Personally, I love the tilt.

If I'm not mistaken, this is the last generation of gasoline engines before they switch to Mercedes-EQ and drop the 'EQ' branding (as all cars will be EQ). Future interiors are likely to mirror the current EQS with a 'singular' screen.

I guess that at least for the C-Class as they got rid of the touchpad (I actually used it a lot on my A220d), they had to make it easier for the driver to access the large center touchscreen, and had to tilt it slightly towards the driver. I really like this "driver-centric" approach to the screens.

I guess, in the future, we will all get the Hyperscreen - give it 2-5 years

The upcoming CLE might also get tilted screens like the W206.

you are right! and that's the car I like. I like the CLE in red.

Also very confusing why the E coupe gets patagonia red, but regular E has cardinal red... C, S all have cardinal red... but the AMG SL has patagonia red....

Great question, MB certainly makes confusing decisions sometimes, the type of decisions that really makes you scratch your head.

I am also excited to see the CLE in its full reveal, it might also be on my shopping list too, I like a good ol' German 2-door coupe.
