W206 C300 Melting Engine Cover
My W206 C300 has been smelling a bit "extra crispy" when arriving home and parked in my closed garage lately. I have been driving normally, so no racing or the like.
Today I wanted to investigate, and saw that the plastic engine cover has been sitting on the metal heat-shields separating the first catalyst converter from the engine.
The engine cover has been properly mounted always.
The heat-shielding on the engine cover seems to be melting, and since there is some sound-insulation material sitting between this heat-shielding and the plastic cover, this seems to be melting also.
There are no signs of melted plastic on the top of the engine cover (yet).
Can someone else with a C300 please check their engine cover if this is also occurring with their vehicle?
I fear this is a fire-hazard and will notify Mercedes.
Burn marks on the engine cover
Burn marks on the heat-shield in the engine bay

W206 is the first of its generation and unfortunately many owners don't realize they're beta testers!

Do tell me though, oh great one with knowledge of all things , how many cars has MB recalled in the US this year so far?

don't take you seriously but more of a fly buzzing around trying to exert what you think is knowledge.
You've been off-putting since you joined this forum and still you're obnoxious lol.
You can try and shame anyone all you want to after all that is the climate for 2023 right? Grow up and also grow a pair

By the way, I make my living (a pretty good one!) by fixing mistakes made by engineers!

I understand your position though and maybe it does seem like a contest from another outside perspective....but there is a history and behavior pattern that
makes it seem like everyone BUT the lad here is just plain lame.
Your own words show your pathetic lack of knowledge. Attacking expertise you don't have is the in thing. I have every right to call you both out for it. The purpose of this forum is to help people with the issue they're writing about. Your nasty attacks don't do that. If you can't post a helpful suggestion for the OP then don't post at all because you're not helping.
Once a mod sees this thread all history of back and forth and blah blah blah will be edited anyway and will have never existed but we'll still know who you are and how you behave.
would resume but it usually doesn't work out that way.
