Rear fog light mistery

I thought it was forbidden in US because it was not available in any car I’ve owned here before. Maybe the law changed
edit: just found this after a quick google search:
”Rear fog lights aren't mandatory per DOT so most carmakers just exclude the option. It would probably confuse most drivers into thinking you have a faulty brake light that's permanently on because they are so uncommon in the US.”

In 1986, the Center High Mount Stop Lamp (CHMSL) – or what we all think of as the “third brake light” – was mandated for use in the United States. The theory, of course, was that a brake light placed higher and more prominently at the back of the car would help to prevent rear-end collisions.17 Sept 2023
