I just had an oil changed at 1700 miles. Before the change oil level is always at middle now is always at max. So is it over filled now considering when the engine warms up it fills it even more.

Aside from any possible tolerances in what it displays, yes that's normal. Oil level anywhere between Min and Max is normal. What you see in the display is the same as a physical dip stick with Min and Max markings. The difference between Min and Max is usually about 1 qt. So when it shows at Max, that means it's filled to capacity as it should. You can let it go down all the way to Min until you are required to top it off. You want the oil to be at Max. In a normal car it's not all that important, but in a performance car that might see high cornering forces, oil on the lower side can cause oil starvation due to the centrifugal forces pushing the oil to the outside. Keeping it at Max in those cases ensures that the pump always sucks oil instead of a air. Hardcore performance cars even go as far as having a dry sump, so there's no oil pan where the oil is subject to centrifugal forces.

The gauge is doctored. More on that here. https://mbworld.org/forums/gle-class...ml#post9020867

I just figured out how to get into the menu. Engine needs to be started to be able to measure oil level. Once started the level was reading like 7.8l and keep falling as the car is warming up.

Too much information can be worse than not enough information. As said above, the oil level is only ever accurate when the car is stationary on completely level ground. Otherwise the oil will flow to one or the other side and registering as over/underfill depending on which way it's flowing. That's why some high performance cars and race cars have dry sumps, so the oil level is not affected by centrifugal forces or whether the car is on level ground or not, and there's never oil starvation.
