Thanks for the pics -- though they won't make my wait any easier. The one I have on order, and am expecting a June delivery of, looks to be optioned similarly to yours, except for exterior color -- black leather, carbon trim, performance package.
Your pics are the first I've seen showing the U.S.-mandated orange reflectors on the front fender. Most unfortunate, and I'll be looking for remedies to that defect. But that's trivial. It's a beautiful automobile.

Steve was leaving, and I was trying to get a sound clip of the engine revving. But he had to get back to Philly. And I'm sure he made it with his Valentine 1.

Thanks for posting. I could not make it out there due to other commitments. I am sad to say that I will miss the next CLS twin turbo event as well

thanks for the pics and vids Yullie
That Steve guy was a good sport--letting people eat fruit salad off his engine block
Seriously, the guy with the fork was freaking me out, please put the food and utensils down guys
Anyway, great looking car, but the start up could have been more aggressive and the exhaust note is just not the same as our n/a beasts
Either way, this car could replace my C63 in a few years, I like it a lot, just needs some exhaust work--my .02
Maybe there was a piece of kiwi stuck in the tailpipe!

Is it worth to pay Performance package to get additional 36HP & 100Nm, or the final power after reflashed would be the same whether standard car or car with perf pack?
Does the transmission (clutch pack or oil pressure) upgraded for the perf pack car?

I got to drive a pre production car at my local AMG event this past Sunday in South FL. The event was advertised to only have an SL, E, and C but they allowed us to drive the CLS63 when I arrived
Let me say, this thing sounds like a BEAST at WOT. From afar, it is practically indistinguishable from the current 63AMG cars in exhaust note which is a great relief. Nice loud low rumble.
I drove the following cars back to back at the event:
SL63, CLS63, E63, and C63.
Let me say that the CLS63 with the new 5.5L biturbo engine is incredible. It pulls so hard with practically zero power lag. Shifts are quick and smooth. The course was like an AutoX event with a main straight at the beginning that lets you get a little bit past the first to second gear shift. As expected, shifts are very fast. I was surprised how well the car handled, accelerated, and braked...at least as well as the E63 I drove if not better. Amazing for how big the car is. The car literally took my breath away for a split second after it shifted into second and was in full boost. Seat of the pants feel was about 15-20% more thrust than in the E63. I believe the car had the performance package as the steering wheel had alcantara inserts.
Inside is typical AMG quality. All the surfaces are beautiful to touch and it really gives off an S-class ambiance.
Some brief comparisons to the other cars I drove:
The SL63 was definitely the most disappointing of the group as it was the heaviest car and felt the slowest. It really showed it's weight around the corners. As a DD, superb car.
The C63 with P31 package was the most popular at the event as evidenced by the longest lines to drive. Felt very light and communicated great with the driver. You could really toss the car into the corners. Great to drive around the track, but the interior cannot compare to it's bigger brothers and felt very mediocre.
The E63 just felt "right" to me. Great compromise between luxury and power. Felt lighter and faster than the SL with way better interior than the C63. Wonderful around the track and leaps ahead of the W211 in the handling department.
I may be able to answer any specific CLS63 questions if anyone has any. I'm due for a new car so I think i will be picking up a CPO 2010 E63 in a few months and once I finish residency a CLS63...the car is just stunning.

Many thanks for the report, cryhavoc.
Good to have a bit of validation on my choice. I've put down a deposit, and await delivery sometime in June. Obviously my purchase is a blind one -- not only have I not seen an updated CLS63, I don't even have a firm price! I'll just trust that M-B of South Charlotte will treat me right -- ballpark is 130-ish (yikes, twice as much as the most expensive car I've bought before), loaded with all options except night vision and ceramic brakes. That's a chunk o' change where I come from, but I think it'll be something special.
Besides, I deserve it.
When/if anyone has pricing info, or firmer delivery dates, I hope you'll post.

Great car. But I thought the point was it being more "sportier" than the E63. I just read that the E63 with the 5.5TT engine will go to 62 in 4.2s vs. 4.3 for this CLS!!!
That shouldn't happen!!!

Right, because 0.1sec 0-60 makes all the difference in a car's overall sportiness! NOT!
I can't wait for the twin turbo 5.5. As much as I love the 6.3 N/A engine, this new TT engine is a monster AND gets better mileage.
