Sourced Two 2012 CLS63 AMG's Thoughts...
Ok so I test drove the CLS the other day and I want one. In fact I want one over the 2012 Nissan GTR Black Edition which I have my name on for an October 10th delivery. I never really loved my GTR (2009) and while the performance was insane (mine was medium modded with the HKS 570 kit and full exhaust and Cobb) it always left me wanting something more.
So I am deciding on the CLS instead of dumping the 2009 GTR for a 2012 and these are two cars I have located and have prices set on. I really wanted a white one but can't find one locally that my dealer can trade for that has the Performance Package. My dealer does have two white ones but one is bare ***** (just the P1 and some extra safety items like lane assist) and it has light colored wood inside with black interior which I dont like. The dealer also has a fairly loaded white one but no PP and instead it has the Carbon Ceramic Brakes which I just dont need and dont see the value in for 12k (or whatever they cost) when Im not going to track the car.
So while speed is amazing I really love the blend of amazing looks in the CLS along with the HP, TQ, and luxury on the inside over the flat out performance of the GTR. Plus I have my new 997TT with PDK which is stupid good- and the other rides.
So it leads me to these two cars:
Black (not obsidian) with Black interior, Performance Package, LSD, Drivers Assist Package, Carbon Fiber Package, 19 inch Forged Wheels, Premium 1 Package, Parktronic, and Rear Side Impact Air Bags.
And an Iridium Silver with all the options above except the Rear Side Impact Air Bags.
It really boils down to color- I have had three prior silvers (W210 E55, W211 E55 and W215 CL65) and I know its a very easy color to keep or look clean. I havent had a black car in a long time (2003 996TT) and its a great color but the cleaning part sometimes worries me. I do have my cars detailed or washed weekly and I hear the nano black paint is pretty good on the Benz.
So whats your preference?

I know I want to do the KW drop unless the waiting period is too long... wheels are up in the air but Im a loyal HRE guy for years (on set 9) so Ill probably go that route...
What do you think of the Comp Series in 20's on this car or are they too small looking? Or maybe the 790RS?? Or a P40??
And of course, even with the PP, Ill do a tune.

WTF.... why do you always get the car that I want before I do? Are you fukking with me or do you just make a lot more money? I hope only the later applies.
Back on topic. I say go silver and then tweak it with the KWs and some nice HREs. As much as I love black, it really is a PITA to maintain.
When did you get a PDK TT? I must have missed that thread......you're scary.

Go with black. I test drove a black CLS63 at my dealer before I placed my order and it looked sick. However, I like the ash interior with the carbon fiber trim on a black CLS for the contrast but I know most of the dealer cars are black on black.

Go with black! Nothing beats the shine of a thoroughly waxed black car!
I may be biased....mine's a black/black car!
I just wished Mercedes offered a standard red interior, that would look sick with a black exterior color or white!

The reason why I like silver is that you can see the cuts and curves on the car and its easy to keep clean.
Black is a great color especially on a Mercedes, looks spectacular when its clean.
The only problem is you have to clean it often. If you detail the car often then I would go with black hands down.
Plus, if your 3 previous cars were silver then that would be a good opportunity to change it up to black.

i say go with black and congrats on the car in advance whatever the color was.
i know you will make it look very nice and a one off.
can't wait to see your mods on it.
if you are going to tune it, then why are you going for PP ?
