Greetings Gentlemen~

I bought a CLS63 about 2 weeks ago while on vacation. I had to finalize the purchase agreement when I got home, wait for the shipper to finally pick the car up (which happened this morning!), now wait for the *#$&^#%@ car to make it across the country to my home in So Cal.

The "high" of buying the car has worn off a bit, so I need a little pumping up from the current owners.

Just how much do you like driving these beasts???? How bonered up am I going to be with this car, coming out of a flashed E55 as my former daily driver???? Significant uptick in performance????

Have any of you dropped the hammer next to a Panamera Turbo, and if so, what was the outcome???

My car was heavily optioned, including the Perf package, distronic, parktronic, 19's etc. The only thing missing from my wishlist was a ltd slip.

Any no brainer mods to consider??? I was thinking a resonator bypass and maybe an ECU flash. I'm worried however that the ECU flash might be a waste of time if the car is traction limited and I won't be able to put the additional power down.

I'm all ears for more driving impressions/feedback from those of you with some seat time. Best regards to all.

From a dig a Pan Turbo is faster (s or non s) due to AWD but the car slows down up top--- I dont see any Pan Turbos running 10 second quarters at 129mph. Yes I know the CLS was modded (but really just an ECU tune and exhaust) but even in stock form some have our CLS's trapping 122 mph. Up top (speeds well over 100 mph) Id like to see a stock Pan run a CLS PP (stock otherwise).

The Pan is quick, super quick no doubt.

As for the CLS- you have an amazing 4200 lb 550 hp car. The PP suspension is that much better than the normal AMG suspension in tight curves, big turns at high speeds, and planted at straights. Make sure you drive the car, I mean really drive the car at 8/10ths or more as much as possible. Enjoy the rev matched shifts and solid stock exhaust along with the sweetspot of HP and TQ. I broke my car in properly with high speed short runs and rpm's pushed thru the range for short periods off and on. The car needs its seals seated and I want the car driven from day one the way it will be driven on day 365.

Do the resonator removal for sure, its simple mod that yields 20% more exhaust note when under load. I have a thread posted here- do a search under my name to locate.

Vic, I'm really considering doing this to my car. Is the car just as quiet at idle and normal cruising? You just hear the extra noise under load? Any drone in the car at cruising speed?

Hows this for a pep talk. With a simple Kleemann/Renntech or other flash (simple 2-4K), this car you are about to possess will be going FASTER than my car which literally has over 40K in mods done to it (03 E55) AND I STILL CANT GET IN THE 10s!!!!! Renntech literally coasted the car into the 10s with a couple mods and crappy launch.

We are talking faster than any stock 65. Faster than STOCK SLRs and way faster than stock SLS.

Besides the friggin CLK GTR, with ECU flash, this will be the fastest factory AMG ever produced!!!

If that doesn't get you pumped, sell it.

Very well said! My car is an absolute beast with the tune. I normally don't fall in love with my cars, but I'm totally in love with this one

Now that's what I need to hear Jakpro!!!! Music to my ears.

The beast arrives tomorrow. Perhaps there should be a pool on how long it takes til I flash this pig!!!!

Can't wait. Will chime in with my own driving impressions shortly. Best regards to all.

Drone is very subjective- what one feels is drone another may think is standard engine noise.

I dont feel there is any, if minimal, drone after the removal. At start up the car is louder by probably 25% but after maybe 10 seconds it quiets down to a purr. Then it only really gets loud under increase rpms but it sounds sooooo excellent. At cruising speed its very liveable and I dont notice the modification but again, this is me and all my cars have modded exhausts.

Its a real simple and easily reversable mod thats cheap to do... try it out using a reputable muffler shop and if its too much just put the resonators back.
