What option you like the most or you wish you had?

I'm really tempted to change my C63 for a CLS63. I'm far down the path of figuring out what I would like in it. I definitely want the premium package. The performance package seems to be great but looks pricy. And there's the advanced driving assistance package that I don't see the point much but maybe I'm missing something. Finally there's the Designo leather that looks gorgeous.

I'd like to get the views of current owners. Which options you like the most or which one you wish you had? Thanks for your comments!

I have an '07 CLS63 so I'd bet that there's quite a few more options/gadgets you can get, but by far I like the designo leather in my CLS. A close 2nd would be the parking sensors and bluetooth although I'm sure every car has that by now.

Lane departure could be nice, but would I ever really use it? probably not.

I have all the main packages on mine: P2, PP, LSD, Carbon Fiber interior, Driver Asssitance crap, etc. The one thing I wish I got (but had no chance since I didnt order the car and instead found it) was the Designo Leather... for some reason I love the red leather interior with black offsets. Its just striking.

I have CLS63 2012 the car is fully equipped with options but no PP, in my opinion you don’t need it if you are going to tune, the only thing you got is the red brake calipers and carbon fiber spoiler and engine cover.

i would recommend you to go with the desingo "you’ll be sitting inside the whole time so you need some luxury surrounding you" I have the dark brown leather i know it sound old but the moment you sit inside you feel a bit classy not like the red more sportier, radar detector is really handy as matter fact I don’t use the brake in the city i just let the car role till it stops + for sure , lane assistant hmm that one is a bit annoying but in the same time its safe thou its off the whole time, carbon fiber interior exterior is a must in a CLS, parking assistant is good as well, so basically go with the whole package

here are some pic of the interior not my car thou but exactly the same but with carbon fiber

https://mbworld.org/forums/cls-coupe-c218/429851-anyone-one-sport-wheel-packages.html

good luck in choosing your car

You are missing some major items in your PP list... the AMG steering wheel which costs well over 1k and the much better AMG sports suspension. The dampeners alone cost over 1k each. I for one, tune or not, am glad I got the PP. Its cost is a little over 6k (dealer cost) and for me the handling improvement alone is there. I have two AMG's right now and the suspension is sooo much better on the CLS than the non PP E I have. And since Im not doing a tune (yet) it makes it even more worthwhile.

Thanks for your comments. It sounds like my money would be better spent on designo than driver assist. The suspension argument is convincing me on the PP. Before getting too excited on the CLS, I want to test drive a maserati quattroporte. I know it's quite different but I love their design. I'm just afraid that it's not a real driver's car...

Wishful thinking

I'm not sure if the question is year specific, or for CLS63's in general?

I have an '07 with P1, P2 and the PP. One of my wishes would be factory power folding mirrors. I have found someone that can add this factory option, but for a car that stickered at $110K - it should have come with them.

Second option would be a backup camera. Again, on a car of this caliber, it should have been included.

I test drove a maserati and a Porshe Panamera...Great looking cars but none of them are even close to the cls 63 from a driving standpoint. I don't know what else to compare to as I want top performance, luxury and enough room for 4 adults. (if I give up on any one of these 3 criteria, I would have more options...) The cls is really in its own class I guess. I'd love to compare it to an M5 but it's not available yet. Any ideas what else I should test drive (other than an e63) before pulling the trigger?

They are not, still in the ordering phase and they are not much faster than the 4S's...

Panamera S...not impressive. I should probably try the Turbo but I just didn't like the feeling...almost like diving an SUV. They didn't have a Turbo in stock, only a Turbo S for twice the price of the one I test drove.

When I was looking at Panameras, I came away with the impression that they were impressively overpriced for their segment(s). But I guess it depends what you're looking for

I test drove a 2012 cls with PP yesterday. It really pulls hard, even more than my Kleemann C63. The Sport + suspension is a must though. The temperature outside was close to 0 C and the car had its performance tires. I couldn't really push it as it was spinning too often. Not sure about the purpose of the lsd...it is supposed to redistribute the excess power to the other wheel? Perhaps the winter conditions didn't make it obvious. The only point that keeps me thinking is the general feel of a bigger, heavier car vs the agility of smaller one like I'm used to. Even with all the performance features of the cls, the car is not as agile or nervous as my C63. But if I want more comfort and more room, I guess it's the ultimate tradeoff I need to accept. The cls is by far the most fun to drive among all the cars I test drove in that segment. I may very well confirm my order later this week...

glad to hear it pulls hard as I only drove a regular 550 for testing......I'm expecting to be blown away when the car does get here......yeah, got lsd, p1, cf trim, spoiler, and most importantly the engine upgrade with the cf cover and red cali's, same color as my current amg
I don't think you'll be disappointed!!

I pulled the trigger tonight...Black on black with premium and performance packages. Now the most cruel part...waiting for delivery in May.

I wanted the cashmere white but they won't do Designo for the balance of the 2012 production. I would have had to wait for the 2013 model starting production in July with delivery in September. Not sure if it's only a Canadian thing but it's a bit ridiculous to wait for a new production year just for a paint colour.

Now I'll have winter tires and rims to sell for a C63. I'll post them on the C63 Forum when the winter is over.

The first date they gave me was June. They had to squeeze me in for the March/April production so I can get it in May.

Had the Night View back in 2010- worthless to me. A cool little thing that had its novelty wear off quickly.
