Not really a fan of the new A8, thought the old one was much better looking, but that looks reallyyyyyy good. These pics are pretty old? Because the freedom tower seems alot taller at this point

 

agree, they look like nice wheels but I am an Audi hater.........but nice pix though

Looks good, but for my tastes the spokes are a little too busy looking w/ the grooves. I like a cleaner look.

This A8 D4 looks like the canine's teeth. Very aggressive looking with that body kit. I quite agree with some people here about the decline of the A8 D4's engineering compared to the predecessor D3. I don't like the rear end of the new A8 but the front does it for me. I can't get a plethora of the A8 D3. Having owned one, i will never forget the beautiful experience of the 4.2 V8 Quattro producing 335 Bhp. That car was as fast as hell even faster than my current CLS 500.

 

I concur on most of what you said and do miss my former D3 A8 (BTW, it is still in service and is owned now by an MB salesperson!!!). However, D4 A8 is so much more of a car than D3 was (except the rear end that looks just like all other modern Audis), especially in its interior, and it shows in its MSRP price at over $10K more than previous model, when similarly equipped.

 

all the audi sedans look the same now, just add a few inches in the middle and u have a new series, otherwise they are way tooo similar

 

People who know the brand very well can tell them apart. They don't look similar in anyway to me. People like to paraphrase what others say. It takes nothing for someone to say 'Audi cars look the same and everybody adopts the notion'. The answer is capital 'NO' in as much as i drive a Mercedes, am still a great fan of Audi brand.

Have you test driven an Audi flagship before? Just go and have a look, don't be biased about your report, report back on here your experience, i bet you would order one on the spot after your test drive. Audi cars are irresistible. i just fancied a change of brand after several years of Audi ownership. Oh yes, i was a proud owner of several of their models but the A8 is just impregnable. Lest and forget, does the R8 look like the RS6? lol

 

I agree with you. It's like when someone says all Porsche 911's look the same. To the layperson, perhaps, but an enthusiast "in the know" can easily identify a 996 vs. 997 vs. 991.

 

well that's simple, just look at the price tag

 

im not bashing audis, but i stilll think they are at a level below the mercs, even tho they price as high

my brother has a B7 Rs4 and he loves it, 4wd, stick shift, all the goodies,

and my inlaws have an A8 as above, a 2011 i believe
its nice, has all the same bells and whistles the S class does, but its lifeless when u put your foot down
there is too many driving options that makes it too confusing,
Mercs still drive mo better

 

Your response is totally subjective. You keep saying i have family members, in-laws etc that drive the Audi but not you. Did they mention to you that Audi vehicles were underpowered? I believe 'NO'. You see, am in a better position to tell you how each brand drives in that i have driven both the Audi and Merc. You have not driven the Audi yet, so your answer is totally biased based on personal sentiment. Having had and driven the D3 A8 for years, oh yes that car is brilliant and performs well in every perspective and is insanely fast for a 2 ton+ vehicle.

I thought the CLS 500 was fast until i bought it and pushed it to the limit. What a shame! Not much could be said of the 5 litre V8! CLS 500 is very slow in my opinion. After ownership of the CLS, i will turn to Bentley Continental GT (Volkswagen Group) same group of company as Audi. Audi/Volkwagen group own top brands as Bugatti Veyron, Bentley, Porsche, Lamborghini etc. This group run proper automobile business. The S class does not have any character both external and interior design compared to the A8. Interior is an okay design but i will still choose the A8 over the S class anyday anytime. Have you seen the latest technology in the A8 D4 with touchpad and google earth? Does the S class have that technology? Capital 'NO' is the answer. Which brand introduced the LED light that every brand is copying today? Ofcourse, Audi started the Led with the introduction of the facelift S6 back in 2006. Prior to this date, how many brand of vehicle had led strips fitted to their cars? I believe 'Non' as of then!

Let the blatant truth be told. Audi is just underrated. Mercedes was long there before Audi yes, but the first will not always be the first. Audi produce unbeatable engines that are killers. How do Mercedes cars fair in the snow? Have you forgotten the Audi rally Quattro? The Audi Quattro was the first rally car to take advantage of the then-recently changed rules which allowed the use of four-wheel drive in competition racing. Just go and read about the history of Audi, you will confirm that Audi is not a layman in the automobile industry. If you race any Audi big powered engine vehicle, believe me you will not be in a hurry to forget that experience. Audi have equal vehicles to match the likes of the M5, M3, M6, C/CLK/CL/CLS/SL55/63 AMG/BRABUS, name it both in performance and otherwise.

So tell me why Audi brand is below Mercedes? Can you compare the interior quality of Audi cars with that of Mercedes? No, ofcourse. Audi is better! So why is Audi below Mercedes? You are yet to clarify me on this subject! Until Mercedes produce a super car like the R8, for me they are not quite there yet. My dad has always taught me to know that the first will not always be first. He said to me that the last can still be first. This is exactly true of Audi taking the lead and sitting on top. Ego, will not allow people to accept this fact. I believe Mercedes is still dwelling in their past glory.


Don't get me wrong, i love Mercedes to the core, but i dislike when people begin to take Audi for utter contempt. Audi is no TaTa, Lexus, Mazda, Hyundai, Peugeot, Renault or Toyota. Audi is not trying to copy anyone. Audi is just Audi. Mercedes or BMW cannot underestimate Audi. If they try to, the best thing is to take it to the street that is to say 'Highway' and that will prove who has the best under the bonnet. I keep telling people, don't argue too much but just take it to the street and clarify matters. End of story!

 

Respect to Audi. I just couldn't drive anything that calls itself VAG. lol

 

i didnt buy an audi for the reason i have felt the mercs to be better

back in 05, before i got my c320, i was very close to getting an audi a4 3.2,

they were similar in size, price etc, myself and my wife, and even my brother who later bought the b7 rs4 preferred the mercs
we drove both cars numerous times, and i still believe we made the correct decision

 

and i have driven the a8 my inlaws have, for many weeks andmiles, and that is also how i came up with my conclusions

audi has made great strides, no doubt, i like them, just not as much as mercs

 

I like Audi A8 so much the performance of it is so amazing and nice wheels.nice pics of audi.

 

Which brand created the 4 door coup and gullwing doors. LED lights are cool but if we are talking innovation your going to lose as I could go on and on.

And as far as I am concerned you all can take both the A8 and the S and throw them off a bridge.

Audi makes a great car...but common...if you think status has nothing to do with cars you nuts and Audi just isn't there yet.

I live in the Laguna/Newport area and Im telling ya...if I see one A8 for every 100 MBs I would be surprised.

Also - There is NOTHING at audi that holds a candle to AMG and the power of these cars but I will concede to the lower end of the market where Audi kicks ***.

I always said that if I couldn't afford a MB I would get an Audi...HAHA.
