2012 V8TT Engine | Spark Plug Recall
service adviser informed me that there's a recall on all the new V8TT spark plugs.. if your engine is misfiring or shaking at idle go straight to the dealer for the new plugs.

i already did my major service and they changed spark plugs,
i noticed before it used to shake when idle and sometimes ( sneeze ) maybe slight misfring once in a while when idling.
but now it is better.
so are there new type of spark plug ?!

LMAO! There's nothing more annoying than a dealership that's not in the know. I know exactly where you're coming from. A buddy of mine a while back had the infamous gas smell in his E55 and there was a recall for them to fix it. The dealership had no clue and we had to show them what we were taking about by logging on to Mbworld.

First off, the recall is accurate. However, i called my dealership and ofcourse they had no idea what i was talking about. They researched it and got back to me asap. I was told it is VIN specific. I gave them my VIN number and i am good to go.
I suggest you call the dealership and give them your vin# so you can be sure.

Just left a message with my service guy. I have noticed a little rough idle here and there so I am wondering if this is the cause. Does any have a copy of the TSB in case my service guy gives me the I don't know what you are talking about thing? I have to go in for my LSD fluid change anyhow and would rather not have to make 2 trips.

Did you know that the spark plugs in the V8TT is completely different than any spark plug they are made specifically for those engines, when we had the engine out of my car we swapped them with new ones, my car had 23000 odd KMs and the plugs where done for!!

I have already changed my plugs, the porcelain portion of my plugs broke loose, 2 cylinders. This happened about 2 month ago but we figured it was just a random event. Maybe now there is more to the story.

stupid question, but how did you know? the dealership called me back and told me that the recall did not hit the system, but they were aware of it. who knows... he was able to tell me it was VIN related but what was happened prior before you had to replace?

Engine obviously had a misfire, rough idle. Check engine light was on. You can feel it inside the cabin. If you have opened the hood at idle, with the plugs broken this was an huge difference. Plug change is easy enough just a headache.
No issue since, just glad the porcelain broke instead of going thru the motor. I would suggest getting these fixed. I threw the plugs away now I wish I kept them.
