that will be useful, but what if they replaced the fine plugs that came with the car from Germany, with others old stock ( fualty batch) they had here !!
how to prove that ?
you know these engines were on S/CL before a year from CLS platform.

so , i went to dealer and took the plugs from cyl. 6,7,8.
here are the pictures, just to show you that other plugs are 100% fine and that one only broke.

So you all good now? I just ran my car hard at Willow, real hard Ali style...oil temps up to 275. Saeed was in the car and almost had a panic attack...
Drop an intercooler in before track day...have no reference point as far as how it did but my car didn't blow up on the track...so thats good.
I'm going to get my plugs inspected this week when there putting my new HRE's on just to make sure...
Sincerely hope you get your beast back soon....

thats why im saying its not a tune issue or because hard driving, and thats why tech said its fualty plug ( off the record ). it was a weak plug and couldn't handle the stress.
even if my car was stock, it would have broken but maybe after a longer time or even the same time.
i feel its better to install these 3 plugs back as they proved they can handle it and no fualts in them.
i ordered NGK plugs and hopefully will get them by end of this week.

But at the end of the day I believe we just pressed our harder and faster and I am really interested to see what happens in the future with non-tuned cars. At some point will there be an epidemic of plugs failing

strange that dbasons55 didn't comment on the 3 plugs in the picture
anyway
i got my car back a while ago
replaced 4 valves + seals.
total cost is less than $3000 including labor + parts + oil service for engine + new plugs.
and for the record.
i did 5 WOTs with my SA as soon as i got it out
he was amazed by the power .
and i hit it hard couple of times to 300km the other day
and i got all the information i need for our smurf turbos ( size, type, etc) and preparing some nice bigger ones with headers, housing, etc.
there will be a lag, but heck, who races below 2500 RPM !!!!
aiming 1000hp + braking the engine. LOL

You should have the stock bolts tested to see how much force they can take or install stronger head bolts. You don’t want your heads getting blown threw the hood of your car! I use to see it a lot at the track… Guys trying to run with to much boost and blowing there engines up.
I would like to think these motors are indistructable but with that much boost... something is going to give.
On the flip side everyone will know what the limit of this motors is.

new out of box with turbos = $20k ( after some hard time and pulling lots of strings)
i have two options now:
1) take my old engine out and open it up than stroke it, sleeve it, stronger pistons, larger turbos.
while this is being done
i can use the new one for DD with only tune and exhuast + cooling.
2) or modify the new one madly
damn those turbos are custom made and housing must be modified.
going AR .65 - .70 and maybe GTX35 or larger.
will try to push it to finish before 2013. LOL

Option #2
Less down time and you get to enjoy your car while the new motor is being built and if something does go wrong with the modified motor you still have the original motor.
Can’t wait to see the pics and some videos!
Keep us informed and Good luck with your moding.
