AMS tunes the new Mercedes 5.5Biturbo platform
Not long ago the shop picked up a new 2012 Mercedes E63 AMG 5.5 biturbo development car. Over the past couple of months Mitch and Chris (AMS Tuners) have been working inside our new European Tuning division of AMS called Archetype tuning.
Using our in house software they were able to remap our E63 and pick up some ridiculous power.
225 ft lbs of torque over stock and 155 more whp in the mid-range.... all from JUST a custom AMS /Archetype tune.
Next up is a slew of hardware upgrades including the turbos

The text you are reading and comparing is the peak HP at max rpm.
The graph is noted to show the huge gains across the board. This is something people tend to over look and is really most important vs just peak numbers.

2012 CLS63 AMG
I'm getting a tune from AMS / Archetype on my CLS63 AMG next week. They've done a lot of work on my GT-R - full engine build, turbos, intakes, BOVs, exhaust, tune, ICs, fuel pumps, injectors, transmission, etc. with their Alpha10 package (see sig) and the car is amazingly fast and AMS has been great to work with. Eric mentioned the performance gains they were seeing on this new AMG engine and how they were developing parts for it and that pushed me over the edge in getting one.

The runs are comparing two pulls at average engine temperature. Not too high, not too low.
MPG under part throttle or cruising is not changed in the least

We have not finalized our flash price yet but it looks like its going to be $2495.00 We are going to have an introductory offer for the first five customers interested. All we ask is for some honest feedback after the flash

Yes Ken, we have a new division of AMS called Archetype Tuning. This is where all the flashing will come from. The site is still under construction but I will post up the link when its done.
On the hardware side of things for now i think it is going to fall under the AMS brand. We might create a European division but as of right now its still going to be an AMS part line.

We are the authorized AMS installer and we have done quite a few GTR builds for them. That being said, we are primarily a Mercedes tuning facility so its exciting to see AMS enter this market!

so how do you do an AMS tune, if its not done by AMS themselves,
how does it work, does AMS send you guys the specific computer tuning specs to flash the chip. and you guys just plug it in at your place..

Our dealers currently would send us the ECU so we can load our program in it. They also would test the tune and verify its accuracy on that specific car in the event we need to optimize it even further / extract more HP.
Very shortly we will have hardware we can send them to tune without them having to send in the ECU to us.

The car drives like stock until you get into the gas which is great as it doesn't change the feel for daily driving. Fuel economy is the same for normal driving as well. So much more fun now.
