Stereo upgrade

Has anyone upgraded their stereo in a 2012 CLS63? I am looking to add a little more low-end for listening, not for thumping. A little more definition throughout and especially on top would be great. I don't want to lose any COMMAND functions or pull apart the dash. I also do not want to lose a lot of trunk space.

this is ironic: I was fooling with my sounds last weekend.......and realized I could control the bass and treble(like every car has lol)
actually sounds a bit nicer when I adjusted them......
I like my bass to be slightly higher than the treble......
my ears are getting old!

good luck

FF. W212 E63 M156 non-pano 18" P2 ParkT NightV (gone but will be missed).
I guess folks nowadays are not reading the owner's manuals anymore.

If you look in your trunk on the underside of the rear deck you should see your (weak) 10" sub.

I always thought I hear some kind of metal flipping sound from that area; similar to stainless steel pan flexing while heating up in the toaster oven.

By the way, that cluster under the rear deck sure take up room. A bigger suitcase would have fit if it wasn't for that cluster. I wonder what else is there in that clulster.

So has anyone replaced the stock 10" sub and/or add amps?

I'm going to my sound guy Tuesday to see what can be done with taking any additional space.

Thanks,

I am looking into an upgrade now. I am considering removing the spare tire and putting the subs there for optimum sound. All speakers would be upgraded, new amp and processor. FYI - the BMW M3 has no spare, just that "fix flat" can you spray into a tire. The new system should be $5,000, or more if I want to spend even more on size/quality of sub woofers and amp.

Thanks. My stereo guy advised against having the subs in the trunk next to the spare -- that it could compromise the sound quality, and defeat the purpose, at least to some extent. Keep in mind that the B&O system Mercedes is now offering on 2013 CLS is $6,400. It's easy to spend a lot more on these aftermarket systems.

Thanks,
Get a shallow mount Rockford 12", it's more than awesome, but the factory amp wont be able to handle the power, but Rockford also makes a sub amp that is the size of an old ipod.

I am very happy with my setup, spent like $2000 for everything, including a brand new center speaker, MS-8, amps and mids. All speakers and amps are Rockford, superb sound.

Thanks for the info!

Where is the location of your new 12" sub? Did you take out the old sub?

Please post some pics when you get a chance.

Cheers!

Has anyone here seen and heard the CLS B&O system in person?

Yes, my installer took out the stock12" and put in the shallow 12", a world of a difference.
