My 2013 CLS63 Is Here (Pictures Inside)

Hey guys, well my car is finally here. I was hoping to have a few more photos to detail all of the modifications but those will have to wait. I have a few hundred miles or so on this new AMG and the biggest surprise is that this thing actually feels fantastic in the twisties. After I complete the brake-in miles, I plan to get it to the track for a baseline 1/4 mile time. I am still very confused regarding the best tune for this car but I am sure I will figure that out. Below are the factory options I ordered:
  • Premium One Package
  • P30 AMG Performance Package
  • 471 Limited Slip Differential
  • 19" Forged Twin 5-Spoke Wheels
  • CF Trunklip Spoiler
  • Ash/Black Premium Leather
  • Piano Black Laquer Wood Trim
  • Rear Side Air-Bags
  • Palladium Silver
The modifications that I have completed thus far are KW coilovers and H&R spacers (10mmF and 15mmR). I also had the Passport 9500ci installed with a Mid City Engineering interface that allows for a completely stealth install and lets you control the system through the steering wheel. Oh, I also got rid of the amber colored side markers.

Okay, here are the pictures:

BTW, I purchased the coilovers and spacers from forum sponsor, Vivid.

Thanks

Sweet! With the Mid-City interface, do you need the Passport display and remote module at all? If so, where did you mount them?

Car looks great and same color as mine. The mid city user interface, must you be in audio mode on the speedo gauge? What wheels and finish are in your future?

We took several pictures of the 9500ci set-up but I do not have them yet. As far as the wheels are concerned, I actually think the stock forged 19s look fantastic on this car.... especially with a drop and spacers.

Hi Eric,

I am still undecided about who will tune the car. I have always loved Kleemann/Cory and would love to just slap on his tune and new downpipes but I think I'm going to put a few miles on the car before I start massaging the engine.

Thanks, I'm very happy with the entire car inside and out. I changed the exterior color three times once the car was ordered.

The OEM wheels do look great for sure! We're deciding on some contrast cut wheels right now. Not sure solid dark finished wheels on this color work with it and aluminum finish seems too light/bright for it too.

Eager to see those photo's of the radar install. Hope you can provide a brief description of how it functions when in use. Any down sides to the interface so far? My understanding was you must you be in audio mode on the speedo center screen for it to function?

FF. W212 E63 M156 non-pano 18" P2 ParkT NightV (gone but will be missed).
Already Looking good! Definitely can't wait to see the radar set-up. So it's Passport 9500ci, huh?! I'm still deciding between the 9500 or Valentine. It's hard to pick. I have heard all these radar detector technology patent about to expire and lots of changes in near future. So it's hard to decide if I should wait or just grab a detector now.

School me on what a "contrast cut wheel" is.

I think the stock forged wheels are pretty toned down especially with Mercedes use of grey tones.

Regarding the 9500ci, I need to spend a little more time with the system to give you a useful review. Yes, you do need to be in "audio mode" to access its functions from the steering wheel.

The 9500ci is a complete radar/lidar system with lidar diffusing capabilities. It does not really compete with the V1.

No one knows what a CLS63 is in the first place (at least in Ohio) so why would a debage make a difference?

Okay guys I went to the track tonight to get a baseline run. I have about 350 miles on the car.......too few mile to engage launch control, so I ran it in sport mode with traction control, "on" and grabbed a 12.1 @ 120mph (stomp and go). Funny, but the car was shifting at about 5500rpm. Obviously it was holding back............. big time. At what point of does Mercedes allow this car to run at 10/10?

BTW my 60ft time was over 2 seconds.
