New car: 2013 CLS AMG 63 PP+ Palladium Silver - 2013 model changes inside *HUGE PICS*
Hi all!
Took delivery of the CLS a few weeks ago and thought i'd share pics for current and potential customers to drool over, and more importantly show some of the changes I noticed in the 2013 model year car. Please note, I am comparing these changes to my former 2012 C63, and other 2012 CLS' that i've sat in.
Car spec highlights
Palladium Silver/Black Nappa
Performance Pack Plus
Limited slip differential
Forged alloys
Harman Kardon (I note B&O was available this year as a first!)
Sunroof
Ambient lighting
Changes noticed
- New AMG key as many of you have probably seen already, basically just a replacement for the back side of the standard merc key with the AMG crest. Funnily enough, the keys didn't come this way at first, had me worried.
That was until I opened the glove box and I found an AMG metal tin with the new key crests ready to install.
- Comand system has a new colour scheme going. Gone is the beige of old, replaced by grey, and blue-grey with red highlights. Looks fantastic now to be honest, was getting sick of the beige! Some of the artwork inside has been redone too, and for UK users, noticed a lot more buidlings in Navigation now; even the new Westfield stores were properly rendered.
- Never played around much with the ONLINE side of things with my C63, but this car has options for Mercedes APPs or some such nonsense, it didn't want to use my iPhone's net connection either way.
- Same colour changes for the 3D instrument cluster, grey with red (or green in ECO/C mode).
- Media interface displays ALL covers of albums now as opposed to a random selection, was super happy about this!
I checked, and my custom covers also appear on here regardless of size or format; looks fantastic.
- There is also a cover flow, and key word search for albums. In addition, similar to the iPhone, you can also scroll down the artist/album list by a column of alphabets on the right side of the album list. Quite useful if the list is huge.
- You can now play video from you iPhone when the phone is connected! Not super useful, but a welcome addition none the less.

VERY nice....I have been liking these more and more since actually seeing some in person.....still would like to drive one....you're looks tip top!

Phenomenal car! Feels as small yet more nimble than a C63, and every bit as quick as the SLS to be honest; I think the official HP figures from merc are on the conservative side.
In regards to the key fob, I can dig out the AMG tin and share the part number if you guys like?? I'm sure it could be ordered from your dealer.

I think modding is a lot more common in the States, not many people do it to high value cars here in the UK. To be honest, I wouldn't even know where to start or who to contact!
I'm very happy with the stock car, but if I was to modify anything, I'd probably make the exhaust slightly louder. Resonator delete or whatever you cool guys call it, lol.
However because this car is being leased, and gets returned in 3 years to Merc, whatever I do needs to be able to be reversed back to stock!! Don't know if you guys can advise on this or not...
Would also need to know if anyone here knows of good tuners in the UK, as clearly I won't just go to anybody.

hehe, I think it's interesting about the view on us Americans modding cars.....
I never really considered it before.....guess we do.....
it's kind of like we're always trying to come up with ways to seperate our
cars from the rest, or of course adding our own finishing touches to them.....
and above all the rest: to perform to the maximum limit! and to go fast!
it is a hobby I suppose huh? taking care of them, driving them, modding them...
then again switching out the wheels doesn't seem that far out does it?
my dealer told me the key thing's are a Euro thing and cannot be aquired through them.....
I never really considered it before.....guess we do.....
it's kind of like we're always trying to come up with ways to seperate our

I think it's great what you guys do, I just prefer stock is all!
As I said, would like to do something to the exhaust note, but don't know any companies in the UK or indeed if any of the work could be reversed in time for the car to go back. :/

Wow love the new CLS especially the 63. I just bought 2013 CLS 550 2 weeks ago in white and I love the car. I can imagine how u feel with this toy especially with all the horsepower! Congrats!

Wow! Looks good. I think the junior is sad to see the SLS go.
There is a link to the AMG key fob back cover in the C63 section. There is also a link to the ebay with a seller located in Berlin. Somebody is also selling his/her own ordered back cover that wouldn't fit the fob.
