Sensor short circuit

Hi,

I'm getting an engine management light P0546. Two different diagnostic tools gave the same fault code.
1. Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor Circuit High Code Bank 1 Sensor 1
2. Temperature sensor 1 exhaust system (cylinder bank 1) has a short circuit to positive. There is a short circuit to positive or an open circuit.

I had the sensor replaced. But, the same fault code is showing again after being cleared.

CLS 250 CDI Blue Efficiency 4DR AU
Engine no. 65192430599572

Before I start stripping down to troubleshoot the wire, can anybody tell me where the wire from the sensor goes to?

If I recall I used that connector to heck the signal to the coil with an old dwell meter. I will check it to be sure it is tight. On the issue of maintenance costs to be truthful I rarely had anythng to do with this car while my husband was alive. He looked after all the care of vehicles and other equipmenand I don't know what he might have replaced. I am really new at this crar maintenance and it has been a steep learning curve but thanks to you it has been easier than I ever imagined.
