should i buy 2012 cls 63 amg? will it cost to maintain.
Guys, im currently driving a 2012 bmw 550i (which is in the repair shop now, of course). im so done with this car, i hv spent more than 6k so far this year to fix it, and it has been sent to a repair shop for 3 times this year, and its not even JULY now!!!!!!!
Long story short, i came from looking for a used Lexus GS 350, until i was told by a friend of mine that his friend has a 2012 CLS 63 amg for sale for 35k and it has only 45k KM on the meter!!!! Back to the question. Will it be like my bmw? will the engine light on once every two month? is it gonna burn engine oil?
Thank you

Yes, it will "consume" oil. How often you get a CEL is really up to how unlucky you are, I would say. Even Toyota puts out the occasional lemon. I'm sure everyone on here would advise that you refer to the maintenance that has been done to the car. Surely knowing the driving habits of the previous owner would also help you make a more educated decision.

Just over at the W212 forum someone linked this useful thread. https://mbworld.org/forums/w212-amg/...-w212-amg.html Even though you are looking at a W218, the 212 is basically the same car. Many similarities. GL!

I moved from a 550i (with the infamous N63 engine) to a ‘12 W218 and it’s been heavenly. Even though I bought an aftermarket warranty for the BMW...it was a real drag having it in the shop all the time.
I haven’t had an ounce of trouble from my CLS. I change the oil every 5k miles, so I’ve never even had to add oil in between changes. Honestly, I can’t imagine NOT having this car. Light years better...in EVERY way...than the 550.
DEW EEET!!!

You’ll find that AMG’s are significantly better built than just about any BMW, but especially the regular ones. Just do a thorough PPI on the car and you should be fine.

Welcome to the forum mate!
As others have said......PPI, check service records.......the low miles sound good, and the price may even be a little high for the age of the car. Do you have a link
to the sale or is it through a mate? We can give more 'opinions' with the specs, options etc
I love mine, bought it new. I wouldn't say the cost of ownership is outrageous.....but parts can add up quickly as you mentioned they did on your BMW.
GL to ya!

It's basically been routine stuff, including all O2 sensors with in the last two years. Also a reseal on the engine timing cover....I smelled oil and it had a small leak. The reason I had the O2's fail was partially because of the camshaft position sensors(replaced) and cleaning the oil from the engine harness: also did the sparkplugs at that time.....I got lucky on that one as it's something to be aware of...there is a thread about it on this sub forum.

thank you for all the information. it really give me more confidence about the car. i looked up the internet today, and found a 2014 cls 63 amg https://www.autotrader.ca/a/mercedes...15_33&sprx=100 meanwhile i still waiting for my mate about the 2012 cls 63 amg. the 2014 it has more mileage with 65k and the 2012 with 45k. should i be concerned about the higher mileage of the 2014 if i dont get a deal on the 2012
