6'3, can't fit.. anyone else thats tall have problems?

I test sat in a CLS500, but am looking to get a 55. All you talk folks, how do you fit? I find I have more footroom than my E, but a lot less headroom, and my hair hits the headliner. I'm pretty sure I had the seat all they way down.

Thanks

At 6'1 its more than enough...

The seating is actually ideal for me at 6'1. I find that 70-75 percent of the max seat travel distance hits my personal comfort zone. This position allows for a few inches of headroom in any back rest position. My advice would be to spend some time at the dealership to be sure the CLS is for you. The Multi contour seats are highly recommended. Hopefully this helps..

Thanks for the pics/notes. I'll go back and see if I can fiddle around a bit more and take a ride.

I'm 6'2" and it feels like more head room than the E. Lower te seat to the floor and there should be enough clearance.

Thanks for the replies. I'll head down again and check it out. I did not have the key and I could only move the seats with the door open, so maybe that was part of my problem. If there are folks that are 6'9 and can remotely fit, I should be able to.

One thing I notice too - I wish there were some wood on the doors like the E - finishes off the car. Then again, there is a small surfboard on the dash made out of wood.

Chris, I am 5'10" and I don't have any issue with headroom in my G500. I don't know what your problem is.

I don't get how there is so much conflicting information about room in this car.. Maybe people are built that much different. Crazy. Some say the CLS is noticeably roomier, some say its pathetic, in comparisson to the E.

Find it difficult to have that much of a variance.

I am 6' 2" I have a bit of spiky hair. Maybe 2 inches in hair. There is no way I can fit in the back seat. I have tried 3 different times. If I didn't have my hair, it still would be very uncomfortable. I think you would need to be 6' 1" with very low hair. This is the only reason I might not get the car. I need to take clients out. I however can fit nicely in my E55 in the front seat and turn right around and get into the back seat without adjusting the driver seat and manage to seat fairly comfortable. I just wish for a bit more headroom in the cls.

Some people are just weirdly built, short legs and a long torso in a 6'2" frame would be more difficult to fit then 6'5" with opposite proportions.

I am 6’3” and went to look at a few cars this past week, the CLS being one of them.

I was disappointed to say the least!
I was thinking the CLS55 would be logical lateral move from my E55. After just sitting in the CLS I instantly changed my mind.

The CLS is a great looking car, but it is just not for me!

And I thought my XJR had a low roof!

I'm 6'8

This car is pretty comfortable for the driver. Nobody will fit behind you but the car is meant for three people..

OK, well I test drove a CL500 (and and E55 ) After I picked my car up from service. I definately don't fit, at least the way I like my seat positioned. I tried moving it closer to the wheel, no difference. The only way I fit is if I lean the seat back at an angle. Some people don't mind driving like that but I like it more straight up, for my back. I guess thats how taller people fit.

Can you tall folks confirm, are you leaning the seat back? Car has a much different feel than an E.

The E55 was fun too. Its a tough call.. looks like the E is the best choice for me, unfortunately.

i'm 6'2" and with the seat adjusted properly my head was hitting the ceiling. even worse with a helmet on. was at AMG event this weekend and the instructor was laughing. he said and i quote, "you had better go and drive the E". unless you recline the seat back quite a bit you're going to hit your head. (seat was lowered as much as possible).

well, went and sat in the CLS500 again today. Def didnt hit my head and I am 6'8" with the seat properly adjusted. It is definitely a difference of what people mean by "properly adjusted". I just move it until I fit in the car, not sure about the others.
