Vetluver posted this

I heard recently that MB was testing a new CLS55 on the Nurburing and lapped it at significantly faster times than a Ferrari f430. Am I dreaming? Does anyone have a link to this story?
Just wondering if any of you guys had experience driving both and could give us some insight as to how much better she handles.

So excited that Benz is finally giving us some handling to go with the power.

Thanks guys .

Link to post. Can you reply over there for us E guys.....thanks again.

I sold my '05 E55 to get the CLS. The difference is not that big in handling. Yes it feels a little firmer but the main difference is in the looks of the car. The E55 looks like an old model next to the CLS. The rake of the windshield from inside and the higher window line from the inside makes you feel a bit more claustorphobic - but that's just me. I love the CLS and like it much more over the E55.

I too sold my E55 (2004) for my CLS, and I have to disagree with Robert on the handling issue. I think the hanldling is significantly better in the CLS. Much tighter with a lot less body roll. No where near my 996TT, but excellent for a sedan. I do agree with his take on the looks comparison and the tight feel in the interior. I am used to it now and I am so glad I made the move.

Lets remember that the 2005 Models had a revised suspension and a newer tighter steering rack on the E55 over the 2003 and 2004 models. This same steering rack and suspension geometry is used in the new CLS and when ordered with the Performance Package 030 it gets even better and the car is supposed to drive like it is on rails.

Agreed, the '04 E55 is different than the 05 car. My 05 E55 feels very similar to the CLS55 for that reason.

Plus both cars have the Brabus lowering module installed and +one HRE's.
