I am not happy with the volume on mine either. It should crank up alot louder than it does, at least I think so.

A friend of mine just bought the new S550 and it is much louder. The CLS with HK system sucks. I wish there was a way to increase sound. I know the radio/speakers can get louder, its just a matter of us figuring out how to do it.

When I had my 540 I went right into/out of the stock wiring harness and put in a new amp which drove the m5 free air subs in the deck of the trunk and went back into the wiring harness to all the speakers. has anyone done that for any of the new mercedes with MOST?

I have the exact same problem (wrote a thread about it earlier) it's fu'''ing frustrating!!! So what did I do??? I went out and bought an audiobahn 6 channel amp for all the speakers, 2 audiobahn subs, and 1 audiobahn mono amp. I'm having a custom install for all this stuff. Will let you guys know how it worked out. It should be ready in like a month or so,, the custom job I ordered is CCCRRAAAZZZYYYY!!!! YOU'LL SEE!!!!

I don't get it.

I'm a Custom Stereo guy from way back.

My HK System rules. Sounds Excellent, will play much louder than I can listen to.

I have no complaints with mine.

I'm not saying that upgrading Speakers and Amps wouldn't make it much better... but for a factory set-up, this is the best I've had so far.

in addition, if you go into the Sound setting and put it on Music instead of Logic7 it seems a little louder in my car.....

Stereo

The sound system sucks on all settings. I started by adding a Subwoofer by Infinity. Definitely adds punch.

yes, continue listening at those top levels. and when not in the car, be sure and crank the ****e out of your iPod with those little inward-facing "earbuds" blowing your cilia flat like a 70's hair-do.

i'm impressed by peoples' sense of invincibility. don't you all know you'll be deaf as a door by age 50 or sooner keeping up that sort of assault on your ears? how loud will everything have to be then, i wonder...

and no, i'm no nanny-statist scold, so don't take my comments to be the words of a crank. i spent my late teens and early-mid 20's playing in rock bands in hollywood and doing recording and live-sound engineering, and i'll just say my hearing ain't what it used to be (and that's from a guy who always wears earplugs in those environments.

you want louder full-frequency car audio? you should start by mounting quieter tires on the car so your stereo isn't competing with other ambient noise.

if you haven't seen it, i highly recommend renting the video "It's all gone pete tong". it's a great film and excellent story about a star dj who goes deaf. it's pretty much a comedy film, but when his ears go the downer is palpable and it's the sort of thing you wouldn't wish on anyone.

so fer chrissakes, be careful with yer ears!
