Awesome new lowering module from Renntech

Apparently has digitally adjustable settings for each wheel, ranging from 10mm - 50mm (!). Also has a "stock" setting in case dealer service is needed. Intro pricing I was quoted was significantly lower than the previous Renntech module, which was already the cheapest among Kleemann, Brabus, Carlsson, etc.

I haven't had any problems with the washers and bracket repositioning DIY job, but I am getting the new Renntech module installed along with the performance package next week. This should let me go a little lower (probably 1" below stock) while improving ride/handling and also eliminating any possibility of bottoming out the suspension in case I hit a pothole or debris at high speed.

If you're considering buying a module, definitely check into this one before making a decision.

Sorry about that. I was so excited about the capabilities and the price that I was anxious to share its existence. RT is developing another very interesting and useful part which isn't quite ready for prime time, so I'll keep mum about it.

Adam now that the cat is out of the barn you might as well spill the details

The amount of lowering

I would say the difference between RennTech and ANY other module is simply Renntech can adjust digitally (rotating switches) the signal from sensors in 8 steps. One of the switch positions might simply match the settings of any other module, but here you can vary them.

The factory control module is continuously fine-tuning its individula sensors setting, so the amount in milimeters will vary vehicle to vehicle, wheel to wheel and even 'time of the day' meaning the control units monitors also the road quality just driven and adjusts the height accordingly.

Individual wheel heights are adjusted by means of an 8-podsition rotary switch. Why don't you simply check out the user manual:

Great description, that pretty much sums it up!

When I picked up my car from the installer, the rear was really low with the top of the tire buried in the wheel well. While it looked kinda cool my wife thought it was too ghetto and ride quality deterioriated, even with the suspension in the comfort setting. That said, having the rear lower than the front may help performance a bit, since more of the cars weight will shift to the rear axle to aid traction.

The installer had the front L & R adjustments maxed out at 50mm, ditto for the single rear adjustment. I wound up keeping the fronts at 50mm, but raised up the back to 40mm. This gives me nearly identical clearance of about 2" between the outer chrome lip and the fender on all four corners. Distance from ground to the fender is about 25.375" front and 25.5" rear. Stock was 26.625" front and 26.75" rear. Before the module, I had the car down to 26" front and 26.25" rear with the washers and bracket mod. [All measured with suspension in DC1 mode].

Getting to the module takes only about a minute, and it is super easy to adjust. Besides the two front and one rear level controls, there is a mode control which features two operational modes as well as a bypass. The appropriate operational mode is chosen based on the date of vehicle manufacture -- apparently MB changed something after 4/2006 requiring this.

The airmatic system definitely has a "personality". Depending on time of day, temperature, road and parking lot inclines, etc. it will vary the right hide on any particular wheel 1/16" - 3/16". None of the lowering options -- electronic, software, mechanical -- will do anything about this, it is just the way it is!

If The Lowering Module Is Fully Lowered And You Are Driving At Highway Speeds, The Airmatic Will Still Lower The Car Even Further, Right?

Because Right Now, My Cls Lowers At Freeway Speeds For Performance And Aerodynamic Purposes.

What I Want To Know Is....if It Does Lower And You Have The Lowering Module All The Way Down....will It Mess Anything Up (ie-wheels, Fenders, Suspension, Etc...)??? Does Anyone Know About This Or Had This Problem?

I was told by Renntech representative, you should not lower the car more then 1" = 25mm (module setting #5), any lower then 25mm you're looking for some excess wear on the tires along with other problems.

A blast from the past, but does anyone know if RennTech makes a lowering module for the RRS? apparently they dont answer emails over there and this is one of the few forums that has info about Renntech. Thanks

Why don't you trying calling them instead of sending email. They've always answered the phone when I've called. BTW- Renntech only specializes in Mercedes tuning parts.
