Anybody add just a sub to the HK system?
I was thinking of adding 2 10" sub in the trunk of my CLS55, and leaving the rest of the system alone. Has anybody done this and how did the sound come out?

I personally have not done this but I was at CES this year and both Rockford and JL had a setup using a Clean Sweep JL and 360 Rockford and they left the HK system and it sounded amazing I actually was thinking about getting the JL system only cause I was told you can use the oem wiring harness and not have to cut into your stereo gear in the back. Sorry I am not to technical but I did experience it and it was impressive. You may want to ask in the audio forum if you already haven't

I added one Infinity sub with a bass adjustment knob. Totally dc'd the stock bass. Sounds very very nice! Very surprised as I redid the entire system on the Range Rover and the 2 are comparable.

I added a 12" JBL subwoofer and Kenwood amp to the stock h/k system. Did wonders for it, I really really like it. Hits very hard. When I put the back seats down, it hurts my ears and people in the car who aren't used to it complain about their chest hurting and stuff. Pretty cool. I reccomend doing it.

I spent 20K on the system in my cls. Haven't posted pics yet because I am waiting for the carbon interior and a kleemann lip. want everything to be done and then you'll see....

I've installed quite a few systems in these cars... I'll post some pics...
If you just want to add a little more bass you can have a custom sub enclosure fabricated that will take up a minimal amount of trunk space and still be able to access the spare.

its only a cell phone shot but i guess you can see the point...the bat symbol lights up with strobes.

I just did a system in my CLS55. I used all the factory midrange and tweets. My car was in the Rockford booth at WCES. The system has 2 360.2's, three Rockford Power series amps and 2 shallow mount 10" drivers. The 360's allow you to eq the system and keep it time aligned. Overall, the system sounds great. It plays WAY louder than factory, much better bass extension and has that "live" sound that the HK system just doesnt. If you want addtional info, I will post it.
