030 Package On Cls. Is It Worth It?

So 030 Package Costs 9,500 Bucks. Is It Really That Much Of A Difference On That Car Or Wat, Other Than The Rims And The Increase In The Speedomiter Limiter, Does It Make The Car Go Faster?

yes it does! it has an LSD, so really helps with your traction when you launch the car... especially for the 55k! i would recommend the kleemann LSD though, its around 2500$

you do get some more stuff (someone else elaborate) but not worth the $9500 imo

Over In La

I Just Got Back From The Dealership, And I Spent Half An Hour Trying To Convince Three Guys Over There (including The Owner), That The 030 Package Is An Extra Option, However They Were Convinced That Every Cls Had An 030 Package On It Since Its Called The Amg Performance Package. Anyway After All That None Of Them Had A Clue Wat Its Purpose Is And Im Still Not Too Sure.

Actually man, that's a lot for $9500. And that list didn't even include the extra large brakes that you'd get.

Here's how much I think all that would cost after market:

3-pirce wheels at least $3K after your stock trade in
Larger brakes at least $2-3K
LSD 4-5K
Steering wheel $750-$1000
Speed delimiter removal priceless (lol, couldn't resist, actually I don't know)

So it's not a bad deal, you just have to ask yourself if those are really what you want. It wasn't for me so I decided against it but lot of people seem to enjoy it.

I SEE WAT UR SAYIN BUT I DNT THINK THAT I EVEN NEED HALF THAT STUFF, I MEAN THAT PRICELESS DELIMITER (LOL) ISNT REALLY GONNA GET USED, I MEAN HOW OFTEN DO U GO OVER A BUCK 55 IN LA. BRAKES ARE GOOD ENOUGH BESIDES I DONT LIKE TO BRAKE THAT MUCH, AND THE REGULAR WHEELS ARE NICER, I THINK. SO I THINK IM GONNA PASS ON THE 030..LSD IS CALLING ME THOUGH

I think the 030 package is the best deal out there.

9.5K? That is rims, steering wheel and delimiting with many tuners and aftermarket companies.

If you don't care about what is in the package then you clearly don't want it.

Don't forget that this package is covered under full MB warranty as well

That may truly be priceless

2007 cls 63 030
You get bigger brakes front and rear, LSD which does make a big difference, top end to 186, the alcantra steering wheel, and the wheels whether you want them or not. The dealership was worthless to me when I was filling out my order form. My salesman basically told me that I was going to pay 9500 for no governer, which made no sense so I passed. Then I did some research on my own and called him up and told him to add it to my order. He was puzzled but agreed to change it. There is a cls63 that a guy has three blocks from my house and it looks pretty wimpy next to mine. The brakes actually look small compared to an 030. I am completely satisfied and feel that you will easily spend more the 9500 to get comparable upgrades, and like before mentioned, these upgrades will not have the factory warranty. If 9500 isnt going to break the bank, I think you should go for it. The day I picked up my car a different salesman went up to my salesman and said, hey is that an 030? My salesman said yeah and the other guys reply was, DAMN. That says it all.

Any one know what the LSD does exactly ? I know it helps with take off from what I have red but how?
Also any one got any picks of the (rims, steering wheel) of the 030 package?
Final question, can the LSD be installed on a CLS 55 AMG? Does it have any side effects?

Go to www.mercedes-amg.com and click on performance packages to see what it looks like. As far as aftermarket LSD's I know Adam at Euroelites was saying that Quafe (not sure of spelling) makes one. More so than launching benefits the LSD makes a difference in cornering. I can feel it kick in when i go around a corner fast. It is almost like it makes the car oversteer instead of understeer, just my personal feelings by driving my 030 63 for about a month and a half now.

Here's some great high resolution pictures of a CLS55 AMG with the 030 package.

A limited slip diff does exactly that, it'll lock the rear differntial so that both wheels are moving the same rate, that prevents having one wheel lose traction and you loose all your torque through that.

The 030 package is a steal considering you get warranty!

An aftermarket LSD can be installed, but if I remember right the Kleemann style is spider gearing and pretty much wears out at 10k miles (I might be wrong).

If I had a choice on getting 030, I'd go for it ASAP.
It's either that or going custom on every part.

Let's break it down.
Newer wheels? That's debatable, but hey, let's just say they are worthless
Multipiece brakes with less tendency to overheat? Evosport has a set of replacement rotors that are 2000$. This package includes calipers and what not.
The LSD is also included.
It's got a sweeter, thicker, steering wheel.
It's also go the speed delimiter, which eh.
To top it off though -- warranty.. it's factory backed. You can't beat that anywhere else. Walk into the dealer and it's all covered.

You guys are also forgetting that the 030 package comes with slightly wider rear fenders. Now thats cool. Many of you will disagree, but put two CLS next to each other , one with 030 and one without, youll see what im talking about.

The 030 package is the bomb, if you have the option to get it, get it.

Rob Allan (former MBUSA AMG product manager) has said several times that aftermarket LSDs can't perform optimally because the ESP needs to be reprogrammed to take full advantage of the different characteristics. On one Private Lounge chat he went so far as to say beware of third-party LSDs. I'd love to see some real track tests of the Quaife vs. Kleeman vs. AMG LSDs on similar AMG cars.

This was tackled on the Private Lounge as well. The 030 package on the CLS does not have wider rear fenders. They said it was an internal modification to the fender well.

Your eyes are deceiving you!

I have not heard of the body changing on an 030 package??? The CLS is a 219 body whether it be a 550, 55k, or 63 IMO. The parts may be different but the body should be the same.
