Music to my ears

This morning I left the door open as I pushed the button to start my car. Man, the exhaust note on this car (especially at start up) sounds awesome. After owning this car for 4 months, I still love the sound and find it infectuous. I proceeded to roll down the windows and sunroof, and drove it out of my office parking structure. Sounds mean in an enclosed garage! The exhaust note definitely sounds better than my E55.

It was a big factor in my decision between the 55 and the 63. The note at startup puts the dumbest grin on my face every morning. I feel like a teen cause I rev the car at startup and a couple of times right before shut off. People are probably wondering what the hell is wrong with me but I can't stop. In the morning, when its cold I even get a couple of backfire-like thumbs. Grrrr! I already posted my video but here it is again: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLzEph1nhBg *and that's after a warm start which for some reason doesn't sound the same as when it's cold.

Funny thing is that I do exactly the same as you. I'll sit in the parking garage and rev the engine before turning it off. I'm sure people wonder what the hell I am doing. Seen your video, and when I played it the first time, it put a grin on my face... then I played it again, and then one more time.

Best was at the bag drop at the golf course yesterday. Popped the trunk so the starter could take the bags out of the trunk, while he was back there I revved it once and the guy jumped back like he'd just heard a cougar crawl out from under the car. I think he was looking for some explanatoin of why I did that, lol, can't provide one, just love doin it.

I thought I was weird cause I couldnt stop doing it either but my absolute favorite note is when I hit a nice tunnel, slide the windows down and let it loose, It sounds like thunder all around. theres nothing like it...

I dont own a CLS 55 or 63, just in the market for a CLS500, and wanted to know IF the exhaust is any where as sexy as mentioned above? Ive test drove the CLS500 once, but the representative wouldnt let me have any fun with the car.

I couldnt tell u cause I never drove the 550 but its a whole different exhaust. However the next time u test drive a car, dont pay attention to the sales man. Drive that thing like u stole it. If ur gonna buy a car for that much, u wanna make sure u get the full feel of the cars capabilities. usually they shut thier mouth when they realise ur not listening to them.

Not even close. What you'll have to do is get an Eisenmann Race installed. Then you'll sound even better than us AMG guys.

I repalced the whole exhaust (except for the muffler with tips) for kleemann. The sound is unbelievable. Ran me about 2500$. Highly recommend.
