New CLS owner here
I waited anxiously for 9 months for the arrival of the E63,then finally drove one.Awesome vehicle,engine/exhaust sounds incredible&the tranny shifts very smoothly.Liked the fact that you could disable the traction control&leave 100ft darkies at will.BUT....
It just didn't have that "slam your head into back of the seat" low end torque of the 55 that I fell in love with
And the ability to mod the 55 engine reliably sealed the deal
So,here it is:
'06 CLS55,9600 CPO miles.My wife&I both love this car
If you don't mind, would you let me know what mileage the car has? How much (ballpark) did you fork over? (Hope I'm not getting too personal here.) Also, did you finance? What kind of rate?
Thanks in advance; information like this is really helping me do my homework for the big buy!
reckdriver,it had 9600miles and was certified pre-owned as well.We settled on $78,500,down from asking price of $85,990.As far as the financing,we put down $35k&used an auto-equity(similiar to a home equity loan)to pay for the rest. Our interest rate is 4.9% through our credit union. This is our preferred method as some of the interest is tax deductible at the end of the year
Thanks for the congrats everyone

It was a very nice car, handled excellent. But being AWD& convertible it had a huge weight problem, even being the "S" model. My wife fell in love with it,and I couldnt persuade her to wait a lil bit for the 997 turbo. So,it was slow compared to the E55 it replaced, and it had a bunch of electrical problems that were hard to track down.It was in the shop quite a bit,and we only had it for 3 weeks when the first problem occurred. And I was gettin ready to Lemon Law it.....
And I didnt like the fact that I had to add 1qt of oil every time I was driving it "enthusiastically".The dealer told me that was normal.Embarrasing filling up at the gas station&puttin oil in a $108,000 car
I hope that our experience was not typical of a P car, because based on that I would NEVER buy another one.
So all in all,I had a less then stellar experience with my brand new '06 911 Carrera 4S cabrio

But I love how EVEN down here in SoCal, I can go ALMOST a whole day without seeing another genuine CLS AMG (not really, there are too many of them down here, but almost)
I'm hoping I can get one below $70K at the end of the year with maybe 20K or so miles. Can't wait!!!!!!
