Has anybody here de-badged their CLS?
I'm thinking I may do it this afternoon. The two V-8 Kompressor badges on the side are definitely coming off,and most likely the CLS55 on the back.Havent decided if I should leave the AMG on the back,as people who know these cars can tell what it is.
I was planning on heating the badge a bit with a hairdryer(heat gun would be a bit much I think)and then using dentil floss between the badge&the car to in order to remove them.
So,has anybody done this, and if so could ya post a pic?Or a different method?
I dont wanna F*#$K my baby up
P.S.-Trez63,I got the hack to work. When I started the car today the AMG logo appeared.

I removed all the badges off my car I don't have a amg just a 550 and I heated the car up with a hair dryer and peeled the badges off with a rubber spatula theb used a little goof off to clear the extra sticky so that I won't hurt the paint.

Well put it this way, If you remove the badges less people will know what you are driving, and no body kit alone some times is not enough to tell for some people.
I for one love the badges and feel the add to the look of the car

I think its a great idea. The people that need to know the difference, will know the diffrence. The brakes and Exhaust tell it all. Most people in Germany debadge their cars. I have considered this as well, but havent gotten around to doing it yet. I would love to see some pics when your done.
P.S. if your debadging the car, might as well take the AMG badge off as well.

I strongly disagree. I personally didn't "pay through the nose for badges", I paid a fair price for a car with an engine that was assembled by one man that produces over 500 pounds of torque stock and a beautiful CLS to put it in. I guess it depends on who you are and what important to you. Some people are willing to pay an extra 40k to look cool but thats not something you should go around admitting to.

I paid for the performance&luxury while driving,not for an image.I know it's an AMG.Other people who own AMG's know it's an AMG too.I like to be low key,sneaky in a ways.I like the idea of a sleeper,especially a Benz w 469hp.
So debadging to me is the equivalant of not advertising what I have,as I could care less what people who see the car think of it or me for that
matter....
This carried over from my bikes, every single bike I own is highly modified, but yet look 100% stock.****,I have a 200rwhp,8sec bone stock looking GSXR-1000.You'd be hard pressed to distinguish it from any other GSXR1K parked next to it.
I find I can go out trolling for kills so much easier that way,and get quite a bit of bites every time.Much more fun to watch the expression as somebody cant believe there gettin beat by a "stock" bike.

I would not debadge the car, because aesthetically I think the car looks naked without the badges. They are not overly obnoxious, and add visual cues to the car.
Taking them off is easy. If you want to put them back on straight at a later time, that may be more challenging.

well i bought a cls 500 because that's what i wanted.. I like some things that come standard with the AMG visually but it has nothing to do with performance.. I would never debadge my 500 because it's a MB CLS.. It's already tops on the road vs. other manufacturers in it's class.. I like all of the CLS's because they are all CLS's.. I will probably add a brabus spoiler and some type of kit but not to make it look like an AMG to make it look like how i want my CLS to look.. When i want speed I just get on my motorcyle that does 180 pretty easily...
Debadge it if you want but i wouldnt no matter what model you have. just my .02

I don't know if you know that legendary British rock band, Blind Faith, but one of the songs on that legendary album was entitled: "Do what you like." It's your car, do what you like. Why ask anyone(s)' opinion(s) re something that's pretty much personal preference. Just my $0.02.

So! Which badges are stick-ons and which have fasteners? I am going to pull all the badges off (well, when I get the car!), to include the star - if possible. It'll be a CLS63.
Thanks much

I removed my V8 KOMPRESSOR badges originally to replace them with the 5.5 AMG badges I purchased off of eBay. However I have not yet attached them because I am still trying to figure out the perfect placement (I'm very obsessive compulsive when it comes to these matters and if I screw it up, I will not be able to look past it).

2013 ML63 AMG Designo.
I removed all the badges. It gives the car a cleaner look. No excess junk on the sides or back. Just clean lines. You'll be happy you did it, I am.
The only badge left is the MB logo on my trunk.
I have ghost lights on the doors.
