Aftermarket wheels - TPMS question?
When you got the aftermarket wheels, what did you decide to do with the TPMS? Makes it hard to buy over long distance... the local shop wants $200+ to switch them over.

Options are (depending on the wheels):
1) machine a hole for them
2) use straps (not recommended as they do get crushed with low profile tires)
3) have someone at the dealer disable TPMS through STAR.

Tpms
The dealership can reprogram the computer to disconnect the sensor readings. Or you can swing by our shop and we'll take care of you with a smile.

I switched them over, but paid 100 bucks. The holes were drilled larger. I would rather spend the extra 100 bucks and have the peace of mind of knowing if the pressure in my tires goes too low... that I will know. Just a little more insurance for your wheel investment.

Yea I don't think we have them, I believe the computer is able to tell when a tire is low from its drag, it then kicks off the message on the dash. When I went to my Brabus wheels there were no sensors, and it still works, it lets me know when a tire is low.

Yes, the CLS500 and most CLS55 i have ever seen do not have TPMS. It does still alert you when a tire is low, that is done threw ESP.

????Hmmm...
The owner's manual goes through great length about TPMS and run flat indicator. I actually had the light came on a few weeks ago due to low pressure, which I had to reset after filling the tires with air. But to actually eyeballing the sensors, I have not had to yet so I'm really not sure after what you guys are saying...

Well, don't hold me to that. I don't remember what the real Mercedes TPMS is like. If its like other cars it shows each individual tire pressure. But maybe Mercedes is different? Just take off your tire and see if you have a sensor! LOL

No, the owner's manual talks about imdividual monitoring, so I guess you're right. How am I talking off my tire? with a toothpick and bicycle patch kit?
