Well, last year "poor" Kimi Raikonnen could not win if his life depended upon it due to the unreliability of the McLaren Mercedes (MM), so he switched over to the Ferrari F1 team. Now, ironically, MM is THE team to beat. I was not a fan of the MM team last year, but, hey, not that I bought the 55 (love it!!
and the record that MM has piled up this year, what's not to like?!!
So, anyone else interested in F1 here and the MM team and its outlook for the balance of this F1 season (grrrrrreat season, so far)???

surprising....and sad. Apparently no MM and/or F1 fans on here...yet??

Even more interesting is Lewis Hamilton's surprising start with McLaren.

very interesting, however, if you watched gp2 last year, its not nearly as surprising.Originally Posted by DFW01E55

W/ all due respect, winners are winner B/C they are winners; success breeds success. Yes, absolutely, I like MM much more now that they seem to have a consistent and reliable car, Kimi or not. 'Tis the way the world works.
thanks for the tip on the Mercedes racing forum!

I used to be a MM fan since the Mika days until this year when Kimi left. It seems that Kimi must be the unluckiest driver ever to race in F1 and I'm sure that this thought has to be on the back of his mind everytime he races from now on. Can't imagine the pressure he must be facing especially since the competition is so strong this year. Through the rest of the season we shall see how mentally strong the guy is.
However, you have to wonder to what extent his dismal record is due to bad luck and whether it could be due to his driving style instead. No doubt he is very very fast, but in a 2 hour race you need more than just being fast to win.
If Kimi doesn't win this year, I would love to see Lewis Hamilton do it instead.

Could not agree w/ you more.
I am a hugh fan of Kimi's and think that perhaps he is the fastest driver in f1 today. But apparently he does not like to "work" and spend a lot of time (like Schumi did) briefing/debriefing w/ his team. He likes to hop in/out of his car during racetime, and then, apparently, he's gonzo. He also seems to have the worst luck in finishing races/DNF's that rob him of the chance to win the championship. Really feel sorry for the guy; what an enormous talent and THE highest paid driver in f1 today ($51M base salary). What to say....? but all the best of luck to him. THE one to watch and surely just a matter of time before he wins the championship: L. Hamilton.

don't know what Hamilton drives; probably whatever he wants, I would guess. What would be mindboggling is IF he beat Alonso for either points or even won the Championship at the season's end!!
