how do you transport your dog?
Couldn't find any threads on it. Thinking about getting a CLS55. I have a 25lb terrier-mutt. I have a CTS-V and put his crate in the car when I transport him but I don't think the crate will fit in the CLS.
Curious how you guys transport your dog. Don't tell me to get a second car for the dog. I already have a second car, a 65 Cobra (replica), not exactly a good dog car either.

keep the nails trim and sometimes on long rides I will cover the seat with a sheet or small blanket or towel. Car never gets damaged from the dog. He can go in the back or front and I think in your case the crate will fit in the front or back seat.

Cobra/E55
You could either:
a) get a smaller carrier that hopefully fits if your current one doesn't
b) get a large blanket for the backseat which the dog can sit/lay on.
Just some ideas..

I have a 50lbs+ dog and he usually rides shotgun for one reason. Its alot easier to clean up all that doghair. Although there is one other thing that is un-avoidable, the wet nose of my dog against the windows!! one time he drew a smiley face on the window with his nose which i though was pretty funny

My 75lb. Golden Retriever sits in the back seat. Although I am crazy. I cover the ENTIRE back seat with towels even the floor so she does not scratch the seats of get hair anywhere!

Dog Transport
My 16 pound Dachshund rides on a blanket in the passenger seat or back seat. Or to see the view lies across my shoulders. Yes, nose marks on the windows.
But he commutes with me daily.

My 2 Newfoundlands ride in all my cars. I think I have the only Newfy that has seen the far side of 200mph. Lately they have been enjoying the M3.

shotgun in the passenger seat up front; 18# Bishon; doubled-up towel on the seat cushion. Keep your hands on him/her when making sharp turns and accelarating.![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

At longer trips the dog goes in the back seat with a harness attached to the seat belt. The seats are protected with special waterproof dog cover. No damdge in any car, but you do get nose smudges on the windows (trademark)

Dogs and seat belts
MB makes a rear set cover for such purposes. Had one in an 01 E-class and it fit so well you could seat passengers there after sponging off. But my Golden sheds so much I hesitated to take him in that car.
Also I would highly recommend a dog car restraint. A dog can hit the driver or passenger or go through the windshield or out the window in an accident. Can't remember the name of the Boulder dog restraint company but the founders had their dog go through the front windshield in an accident and killed. You don't want a 50-100 lb missile loose in your car for you and the dog's sake. Get a restraint! You'll be more comfortable as well knowing if you have to go to hard braking that the dog will be ok. I was in EMS for 30 yrs. and know of where I speak. I imagine most of you use seat belts - your dog should as well.

affirmative that, bro! If you love your dog, protect him and yourself/family in the car.
