stereo system help...

took it there for a JL system upgrade.
1.the worksmanship is freakin' terrible!
2. speaker box covers 3/4 of my trunk, when we agreed on a smaller dimensions
3. scratched my carlsson spoiler
4. scratch my rear bumper
to top it all off... damn thing no longer works. no sound... no nothing... i'm going bring the car back tomorrow and demand the cost of labor back, and bring it to another shop. anyone know of any quality stereo shops around here?
here's a tip for alll.... just because they carry high-end stuff (JL, Mcintosh, Boston, Fostgate, Focal et...) doesnt mean they do quality work. yes, i failed to verify the shops reputation and just went with it

Have you considered Reus?
dammit! i shouldve just left the stock system alone.
yea, read a few posts here, but i wanted something customized. didnt really want to just throw a box back there. did you replace your mids and highs? any sound module like a JL cleansweep?
thanks

I can't get over how careless people are these days. I took my 996 in to get smogged. They scratch the wheel, of course they try to deny they did it. I show him the residue from the paint still on the wheel. Ok so they pay to get it fixed, the guy comes out to the house, touches up the wheel, you can't even tell it was scratched, I look at the fender and I see the silver overspray on it. I ask him you didn't mask off the fender? No, he says, I said I assumed you would do that, I told him next time buy some newspaper and tape!
There is a good shop in the City that I used when I put a system in my old Porsche. Very understated high end system. For the life of me I can't remember its name, but I will find out and pass it on to you. One block off Van Ness between city hall and Lombard... Perhaps some SF guys can chime in.
good luck.

thanks, no i went to Auto Sound and Security on Capitol expressway. i'm going to go check out a few places, but please let me know, if you remember the name to that one place.
Kevin, i'm not even going to bother talking to them about the scratches, they'll deny it anyways. i'm just amaze how they treated the car. saw dust, finger prints, left over wires all over the place. they claim they've work on high end cars (ferrari, lambos, bentleys) all the time. wonder how those were treated.
sure got punk'd with this one

One 12" free air sub. would give you enough bass and you get your trunk back. I remember some member here installed MB Quarts' tweeters and mids and that's what I'm gonna do to mine later. Good luck.

believe it or not, it is a single 12" JL W6. I was able to use the system for about an hour, before it broke. Too much bass imo... I think a 10 or even 8's would've worked for me.
joemoney415 There is a place in San Rafael in Marin called Rolling Thunder. It is the only place I go for car audio. They are expensive but do superior custom work and have high end cars in the shop all the time. Worth the drive in my opinion. Ask for Jeff, he is the owner and a car nut himself.
thanks, taking the day off tomorrow to go shop around.
MJ'sCL Im getting 1 12inch Phoeniz golds put in tuesday.....im worried about the spare tire issue as well.......but then again i can always get a tow to the MB dealer?
not sure how much space is required for the phoenix sub, but W6 doesnt require much. having 3/4 of your trunk taken up by a sub and two apps, simply looks redicoulous imo...
