So a red Ford GT pulls up next to me at the light on Kendall drive...I'm with the wife in the car, and he's got some hot *** chick in his car. I wasn't sure if he wanted to race, but when the light turned green I stepped on it and he did also at the same time. He got a pretty decent launch and pulled about a half car on me, but once he shifted into second I pulled about a car length on him. My wife was like "how can your car be faster than that thing??!!!" It was awesome!

We got up to about 70, and he was starting to catch up to me pretty quick, but by that time there was another red light so we had to slam on the brakes. He opened the window and was in shock, he couldn't believe what just happened! His remark was "What the hell is that!!!???" He said he was on it as hard as he could be. I told him, I have the AC on full blast too...hah!

I know those cars are fast, but my brother in law had one and it didn't seem all that to me, what's the big hype...Anyways, thought I'd share.

Believe me, I expected a whooping...I know the Gt is a faster car, I'm just sharing my story, exactly how it happened. I'll keep it to myself next time, sorry.

In real life even super cars dont hook up...Just the fact that they were close would be disturbing to me as a GT owner. He got owned.

I believe it , this could happen easily. The 63 can produce 0-60 times in the 3.9-4.3 range and that is right there with most rides. The sedan , 4 door coupe will suprise alot of super sports cars. from light to light its all about traction in 1st gear. He likely could not go WOT and the CLS could.

Great run, car is so sik it likely "stunned " the other driver.

Nice run period. My car at Spring Mountain was faster than a Ford GT. Its possible and I find it amusing the fact that everyone here questions a 63 owners story , how many 55 owners get simillar response when posting a kill story?

I agree man. Either people simply do not have a clue how to drive their cars or we have too many dreamers here. Ford GT is a mid-high 11 second car w/ 120mph+ trap speeds and 0-60 under 4 seconds. It was faster than C6 Z06 in many tests.

Sorry CLS63 if my comment was a bit harsh ... I've just been seeing a lot of silly matchups lately. The reality is if I went against a SLR and I won for some crazy reason, the first thing I would say is that the SLR driver sucked.

I saw about 6 Ford GTs today in Irvine by Houstons. They had a meet I guess. I love that car now. You just got him on that run, but believe me, out of 10 runs, he's have you 8 times. The CLS is not all that consistant either, today mine wasn't moving all that well cause I've been driving like a grandma lately.

Give the guy a break, he clearly stated that the Ford gt was coming fast. I for one have raced many fast cars with non-driving fools behind the wheel. The only difference is that most were driving corvettes.

Every American Fast car (Vette, Ford GT, Viper ..) Requires some great timing and skill to launch right and come out of frist -> 2nd. So you're not gonna win everyone. But I know for a fact that the ford GT is faster and I am seriously considering it as my next car in two years or so.

+1 on the "anything can happen on the street" comment. Reality is that if one doesn't take others seriously (my guess is the Ford GT driver did not take you seriously, hence the result) you can get some "wins" or get beat if you are not ready.

Kinda intersting, too. A guy driving an awesome car and having no clue what you have? Clearly he is not an enthusiast but now knows what AMG's are!

That comment pretty much proved to me that this "race" was made up. Any person who is capable of driving manual transmission will easily beat CLS55 with a Ford GT. It is extremely easy to launch a mid-engined car with huge tires, and 1st gear will take you to 60mph, so the guy didn't even have to switch to 2nd since you say the "race" ended by 70mph. Sorry, but this guy is clearly full of it....

This race is clearly a farce! if a modded E55k was reporting this it would be more believable (500-600 rwto), but the 63 w/20" rims no doubt pure unadulterated 365 rwto in a 4600 lb bucket aint pulling my C6 vette (I have 378 rwhp 375 rwto) let alone a frickin' mid engine great traction Ford GT! And as reported by OP Ford GT got a good launch but then the magical cls reeled him in and passed him thru 2nd

In reality the ford is the faster car, but you can not control real life situations hesitation/miss shift/ traction etc

seems to me the gt did a bad shift from 1-2 and thats why he pulled. At those speeds any car can get smoked if something goes wrong as you have little distance to fully ride out the gears and make amends.

Heck my cuisines E-500 beat me in a 0 to 30-40kph race because i mashed the peddle and the lovely triangle never stopped flashing lol. Does he think his car is faster no, but **** happens.

Just because 1rst gear goes up to 60 does not mean thats the shift point the driver decided to change at. We are not machines and make mistakes, you could wish it upon us but then life would be boring

The OP said the GT was ahead by a length till 2nd gear, just doesn't make sense? that means the GT got good traction, they have superior hp to, it would be like racing a supercharged car of equal weight stats against a N/A car = absolute domination...

Just going by the OP, it doesn't float. now if he said the GT went up in smoke from the dig? that would make more sense, he didn't say that...No way he's going to make up that lost length then pull an additional length from 60-70?? against a car that traps up to 130 vs 108-112 CLS63...
