Lighter Rims and Tires = More RWHP?

I've read on numerous forums that its true. I wonder however if the results are actually dramatic, like gains of somewhere between 15 or 30 rwhp...

Anybody has any opinions on this issue?

motor output, is motor output. lighter wheels are not going to make more hp. lighter wheels will however reduce rotating wieght. this will allow a car to accelerate faster, giving you a seat of the pants impression that the car has more power.

as bon said,
you are reducing the weight thus freeing up hp you already have. This will result in more rwhp yes.

example (sily i know) you are a runner with a heavy backpack, if you were to take it off will you run faster, even though you are the same runner?

Thanks! Could any of you recommend some brands that carry reasonably priced light rims? I'm looking for another set for tracking.

Here are two examples, Feel free to contact me if you have any questions

HRE M43's in textured black.

HRE M40's in brushed finish.

Exactly, your car doesnt gain any more HP at the crank since you are not modding any thing connected to the engine.

What you get is effective HP to the road...as Jason already stated.

Like everybody says, less weight = less rotational inertia. Just be aware that if you move up in diameter, the benefits are dramatically less than staying w/ a stock diameter size, or smaller. If you use the basic I = (mr^2)/2 (m = mass; r = radius) you'll see that rotational moment of inertia is dominated more by the radius of the wheel.

Don't forget braking distances are a lot shorter as well.
