LED license plate lights

What's up guys.

I love seeing the bright white glow on the license plate of Newer Lexus models.

I tried to install LED bulbs once, but I got a few codes from the car in return.

Is there a bulb on the market that will work ?

Don't throw away those leds, just add a resistor to the power line of the bulbs. Go to Radio Shack and get a 2pack of 10 watt 50 ohm resistors part# 271-133. Hope that helps Good luck.

I really like those LED lights on the Lexus license plates too!

Let me know if you get them to work...I would like to install them in my car too.

I installed my LED's from autolumination.com and they are not error free. They were flickering and will need a resistor installed. The size was good though,39mm for my 03' E320. I need to find a good link of how to install a resistor now. I don't know how to.

I did this over the summer. Yes you will need the resistor foe most LED lights they just do not pull enough current so it will flash. Real easy to install but the resistor gets hot so make sure you put it somewhere on the wire where it won't touch trunk cloth!!

Do you have any good tips on how to install the resistor? Where did you get your resistors from? Do I need one for each bulb?

nice .. ready cooled,
this is important because resistors that are applied to avoid cel, will raise temp

Your lights were just plug and play and worked fine? On your E or CLS?

I don't get it because the stock bulbs are pulling 5w. But those Ebay LED bulbs are only pulling 3w. How can that work? What happens to the lost 2w? And why wouldn't the computer trigger errors for the lost 2w?

Screw it

I'm not splicing wires and adding resitors. I'll just buy these http://www.hoen-usa.com/licenseplate2.htm

Attached is how the Hoen lights look compared to the stock. Good enough for me until LED's can come with built in resistors that are truly plug & play.

I would Go with "E3202nv" way its much easier and no Splicing of your wires. if you still choose to go with the resistor install. You will need to pull your trunk liner off to get to the wires.

Update:- 5 minute install, you can see the reflections of the actual bulbs at the bottom (they are reflecting off my bumper)

The one thing I did notice, is that they are a few mm smaller than the stock bulb, so it doesn't fit in the secondary clip (far left in pic1), but it does make good contact with the power clips.

Since these are regular bulbs, no bulb-error...

OEM/Stock Bulbs:-

Hoen $27 shipped:-
